Or, Procrustes at Large
This excellent book is about the dangers of mob rule (aka democracy) and the need for a strong Aristocracy. The brilliant Austrian-born author shows that the Founding Fathers opposed the former and favored the latter, among other things.
He has a bias against the Nazi's though, they shot his dog or something. Actually they ousted him from power in Austria where he was himself an Aristocrat so his bias is understandable.

Because inbred Pedophiles are much more prudent when it comes to govenering the masses.
How did that Aristocracy thing work out in Rome??

Jefferson was an inbred pedophile?
And Rome was the mightiest nation on earth for almost 500 years until they abandoned Aristocracy, so I'd say it worked out rather well.

The natural aristocracy I consider as the most precious gift of nature, for
the instruction, the trusts and government of society. And indeed, it would
have been inconsistent in creation to have formed men for the social state,
and not to have provided virtue and wisdom enough to manage the concerns
of society. May we not even say that that form of government is the
best which provides most effectually for a pure selection of these natural
aristoi into the offices of government?
Translated for the Philistines: "I am for Aristocracy."

Nero Burned the Place to the ground just so he could expand his palace.......and Caligula Turned the Senate into a Bordello of ill repute
That one Bloodline coming out of rome (with the debasement of currency) destroyed it

That's what I meant by the abandonment of Aristocracy. Aristocracy means the diffusion of power not the centralization of it which is tyranny. Tyranny is the opposite of Aristocracy. Before Caesar power was diffused between many Aristocratic families and Rome was prosperous.
I think you are confused over terminology.
You would agree that Rome was great before Caesar, wouldn't you? That is when Rome was Aristocratic.

Yeah, Nero and Caligula were obviously bad, but Rome also had the Five Good Emperors.

Aristocrats gave us the Magna Charta AND the Bill o' Rights. What have the masses of blithering idiots given us beside demagogic tyrants and poverty?

I tend to agree with Nanaem. The average person can barely tie their own shoe laces and is not fit to be making decisions for anyone but themselves. I think some sort of democratic system could work but there would have to be many restrictions on who would be allowed to vote.

I am actually for a system known for the "Ostroca" I cant remember which ancitent culture did it (spartan, greeks )
But esstentially what was done was everybody in that culture would wirte the name of person who the felt was the most offensive and the person with the most "votes" would be banished for a period of ten years
This annual ritual went a long way to preserving the peace ( I think well over a hundread years) it went defunct because the people became complacent about about how much order this excersise kept
This is also where we get the word ostricized from

I'll stick with a constitutional republic because I do not trust anyone to have power over me.

Someone is inevitably going to have power over you, it's only natural, so why not the brightest and most virtuous members of society?
Who would be enfranchised in your Republic? I like the idea of restricting franchise to natural-born pater familias... Of course that would require that we actually have pater familias.
No testicles, no children, no vote. ;D

I should mention that I don't believe in income tax or property tax for that matter but if you are going to have them there should be some restrictions on who votes.
Some restrictions on the vote I would be in favor of would be. For municipal/county elections: no land ownership, no vote. Only makes sense since those that are paying the bills (property tax) should get to decide how the money gets spent. At the federal level if you don't pay income tax or your benefits collected exceeds your contributions, then you don't vote. Once again those paying the bills decide how the money is spent. This would prevent welfare, disability recipients and those already collecting retirement benefits from voting themselves more from the treasury.

You are looking at the consequences and not at the cause.......the cause is the same as what is happening in the US.
We do have an "Aristocracy" in the US and they are called politicians ........ the downfall of Rome was two of them.....one= their silver and gold coins went for being 100% to nothing....two= to many mercs mixed with their regular troops.
The Fed is doing what the Romans did to their monetary system and the mercs in our armed forces will do what theirs did to Rome......impossible you say?, we will see.....guess who the real payers of the mercs are?
I don't care who is on first or is the pitcher, but about who hit the Home Run.
