LAKEWOOD, N.J. – One moment, they were just talking, the young police officer in the patrol car who had rolled up alongside the even younger pedestrian.

It was a low-key give-and-take, question-and-answer exchange Friday afternoon, not hostile or confrontational.

That changed in an instant, when the pedestrian pulled a handgun out from his baggy clothing, stepped back and fired three shots into the officer, who never had a chance.

Patrolman Christopher Matlosz slumped behind the wheel of his police cruiser, mortally wounded, his gun still in its holster. The gunman ran away, touching off a massive manhunt by land and air, with authorities vowing he would soon be caught and punished.

No arrests had been made as of late Saturday morning, but authorities said they had completed a painstaking house-to-house search in the area of the shooting overnight.

"This investigation is going in a different direction now," said Capt. Thomas Hayes of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, declining to elaborate.

He said more than 100 local, county, state and federal officers were involved in the search for the suspect.

Lonewolf resistance coming soon?

That is an absolute lie. Cops only structure their words in ways that will result in grounds for arrest if answered.

Most people get caught due to their own mouth, if he does'nt brag to his friends I think he has a high chance of getting away with it instead of being turned in for a 50.00 reward.

It is said that when a civilian gets arrested that he should never talk to a cop......well.....it should also be the other way around.......the cop that stop me asked me the following "Did you stop back there to take a piss?", he was supposed to be driving right bahind me when he gave me a ticket but instead drove right pass me with all the lights on at 100 mph and then made a U turn and came back.......the next day I went back and "did take a piss" and I timed myself, it took me 10.46 minutes which means that the was behind me for at least 10 miles?.............bull, he gave a ticket to the wrong person.....or so I will say.

Amost forgot, new trial on Feb 17 at 13:30............took the radiator out of my pick up today, will take monday to fixed it.

My guess is da shooter had at least 2 prior felony arrests and was carrying both an unregistered pistol and a duffel bag stuffed with dope already packed in dime bags. He was looking at life in the can so he decided to whack off the cop. I`m within about a 30min drive from the scene, to me this is about as shocking as another bum taking a piss under a tree...

Suspect is named in slaying of New Jersey police officer

(CNN) -- New Jersey police are looking for 19-year-old Jahmell Crokam, the man they suspect of killing a police officer in what one prosecutor called an "execution-style" shooting.

Crokam has been charged with murder and the illegal possession of a firearm, Ocean County Prosecutor Marlene Lynch Ford said Saturday. She said Crokam also goes by the name "Sav," short for "Savage."

"Mr. Crokam is at large. The public is advised that he is obviously dangerous," said Ford.

Some $117,000 of reward money is available for information leading to the suspect's arrest, she said.

Crokam was described as a 19-year-old black male, thought to weigh around 220 pounds and stand 5 feet,7 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and black or dark blue jeans, said Ford.

The shooting occurred Friday afternoon in the New Jersey township of Lakewood. The police officer stopped a pedestrian and was having a conversation with the suspect right before the shooting occurred, Ford said on Friday.

"The individual stepped back suddenly, pulled out a handgun and shot the officer three times," Ford said. "The officer's weapon was still in his holster. That is how quickly it happened."

On Saturday, she added: "What was a routine stop, what was a routine conversation ... suddenly turned deadly. And I think that indicates the danger that this person presents to the public."

The officer, identified as Christopher Matlosz, was sitting in his patrol car when the shooting occurred, Ford said.

Police were still determining whether Matlosz knew the suspect and the reason the officer was questioning the man.

Witnesses have told police that the exchange between the officer and the gunman appeared calm before the shooting. Lakewood police and other authorities immediately launched a manhunt for the gunman, said Lakewood Police Chief Robert Lawson.

"He was one of our most popular officers. He was dedicated to his job," Lawson said of Matlosz. "He was the best of us."

Matlosz, 27, worked for the police department for some 4 1/2 years and was engaged to be married.

"Our goal is to identify the perpetrator of this heinous, execution-style murder and bring that person to justice," Ford said.

I thought it was usually arrest & conviction that led to reward money.

I really wish I knew more about this case, and primarily the facts which we don't have.

I will be money on the result

1 - Cops doing lesa cop work
2 - Cops spending more time generating revenue = Passing out tickets and citations

Catching fuck heads can cost you your life. Why do that? Make money for the state and be a hero that way.

But....but...but....New Jersey has some of the toughest gun laws in the country how could it be possible that someone was shot.

Obviously the laws need to be tighter. :oo-->

And the criminal are futher emboldened by stricter laws which makes their job robing and raping that make easier and police will have to file more reports as these henious crimes take place.

See how it all meshes together????
