You mean legally of course. I doubt some people have any problems getting them, even here in California. For that matter if you want anything hard enough and you have the money to buy your way in you could probably score a small army in places like Compton.

I don't do the drums I have the AR-15 mag well modification and use 10 rounders
Drums are too hard to use after you use them what do you do with an empty folgers can and where do you grab your fresh folgers can from on your LBE?
10 round mags are hard enough to store on you, but at least they make gear for it. The drums take up too much space for me.

space on your body
You ever try to fit one in your pocket?
Guns with out reloads are called clubs. anf folgers cans don't fit well on LBE unless you scratch design a system totaly around the drum(s). I can carry 3 times the ammo in 1/2 the space using 10 round mags and with the ar 15 magwell mod I can reload way faster than you could even think about with a drum. If you think that you will never need to reload in a firefight just wait till you are in the same area where the targets usualy go when bullets are flying, then get back to me on that one.

While I tend to agree with mightymanx I do have to point out that my Rem 870 with extended tube holds 7 shells with one in the chamber. This 20 round drum provides 3X my capacity. That means I would have fully reloaded 3X before that gun ran out. Reloading a Rem 870 is a slow process. In fact, I practice emptying the tube and then just loading the chamber and one in the tube between trigger pulls. My concerns with a drum would be more about maneuverability than reloading to be honest.
I assume mightymanx is referring to 10 round saiga 12 mags and the ar15 mod is related to the saiga 12. In that case he has a pretty strong point. Related to the typical 870/500 pumps though, a 20 round drum means you shouldn't have to reload.
