Source shows it being used as a bludgeon, however I see some potential as a serious stabbing instrument.

$10 walking cane.

Such advice can only be coming from someone with no experience carrying a walking cane.

A walking cane carried by the apparent able bodied draws attention. I know, I used to keep one with me, and my use was justified. It definitely draws attention when one appears to be able bodied and vigorous.

Yeah...instead, you carry a $180 umbrella on sunny days.

You got it, in the old days when I was traveling a lot I used to carry a small tube microscope that by taking out the lenses it would then become a one shot firearm (.32) , two bullets used to travel inside of a lead tooth paste tube.......also had five L shape metal braces wrap as one and with store sticker still on them...I trained myself to throw them like a ninja weapon .......and also one that was posted before, three pieces of candy cane that I could suck one end and make it into a point.......and a few more that I am keeping to myself.

First post of the day............good morning to one and all.

Well in some places of the world such as the tropics the umbrella is used as a shading device that works very well, especially if a lighter color.

Serpo? you are thinking of Africa.......many man do carry a umbrella at all time and yet......it very seldom rains........the center part of the umbrella is made of hard wood and out part that's supposed to extend is only a cover up.

I know about the "unbreakable" umbrella.

I prefer these, it`s both a piece of art and an investment, carry a matching pair, a single one gives rise to suspicions.

What would be really cool is if the fabric was bullet proof so when you opened it up it was like a bullet-deflecting shield.
