IF Silver
IF you can keep your silver when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on Butler,
If you can trust silver when all men doubt it,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not cash out prematurely,
Or being dick stabbed, don't deal in dick stabbing,
Or being smited, don't give way to smiting,
And yet don't post too good, nor reply too wise:
If you can fondle silver - and not make silver your master;
If you can speculate - and not make speculation your aim;
If you can meet with bull runs and corrections
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by bankers to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the investments you devoted your life to, liquidated,
And stoop and build 'em up with sweat and tears:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of silver options,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never piss and moan about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after your silver is gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in your pocket
Except the Will which says to them: 'Buy silver!'
If you can talk with family and keep your silver,
' Or walk with neighbors - nor lose the common touch,
if neither banksters nor pole dancers can hurt you,
If all GSUSers count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving reply box
With sixty words' worth of earnest blather,
Yours is the blogosphere and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a GSUSer, my son!
IF you can keep your silver when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on Butler,
If you can trust silver when all men doubt it,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
