The thing is that the reason they will shut down the ones of their choosing is that the rest are under their control and they of course would want every one eventually to worship their god, which to me is just some ugly mass or glob pertaining to a combination of greed ,fear, power.Ugly stuff,death.

Possibly, they may close churches with lackluster obedience since there are no disobedient churches. But this may be dangerous for them. Without their opiate the closed church's former congregations may become restless.
