State of Washington mulls $100 annual registration fee for electric vehicles (http://green.autoblog.com/2011/02/09/state-of-washington-mulls-100-annual-registration-fee-for-elect/)
Opting to buy a battery-powered vehicle means that owners no longer need gasoline and, therefore, don't have to pay gas taxes. Right? Well, for residents of the state of Washington, that sort of depends on the outcome of Senate Bill 5251.
The bill, introduced in the state Senate, calls for electric vehicle owners to pay a $100 annual tax fee, in lieu of a gas tax, to register their battery-powered rides.
Senate transportation committee chairwoman, Mary Haugen, a lead sponsor of the bill, claims that it's about maintaining the state's roadways:
Electric cars will be driving on the highways right along with all the other cars. One of our biggest issues is preservation and maintenance of our existing highways. We believe they should be paying their fair share.

I just looked at my power bill and the state receives a 3.87% tax so they can quit their whiney ass smack talk about they don't get money.

This pathetic state also requires licence plates and tags on things that don't even have wheels or touch the road. :soap
Pickup truck campers are required to get plates and tags. >:(
Also you need tags and plates on Any tow behind item like concrete mixers, BBQ's, log splitters, etc.
Washington specializes in sucking their citizens dry to support Seattle and it's sprawl. Seattle thinks it is some kind of kindom and all the subjects need to pay tribute to it's coffers.
I wish for another volcano this time wipe Seattle off the map.

What a croc.
It's seen as a right to squeeze as much money out of someone.

Exactly, not too long ago some asshat in Seattle was calling for a higher toll on the Tacoma Narrows bridge so that SEATTLE could get a better BOND RATE on the Alaskan Way Viaduct.

Typical politics, the left hand has NO Clue the right hand even exists on the same planet.
The State of Washington is complaining electric vehicle owners are not buying gas therefore not paying taxes.
butttttttttttttttttttttttttt
The state of Washington waives the sales tax on any electric car purchase as an incentive to buy them

I hate it even more when sheeple say it. Isn't Microsoft based on Washington? I wonder how much taxes they pay...Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others.
