I don't collect anything else actually. I've got a hungry old boat that eats everything up.

However, I'm getting a decent tax return this year. Thought I'd splurge on a decent watch, lest smart-minded folk talk me out of it..

A good watch can last a lifetime, and could be used to barter, ie to get out of the country if needed. Seems like a good idea, but I'm not a watch guy.

The one I'm thinking about is this one..

For all that is holy, do not buy a steel watch. Buy a solid 14k or better 18k watch with a solid gold bracelet.
I have an all 14k Longines that I bought for 1000$, now it`s worth 2000$.
WTSHTF a steel watch won`t buy you a grain of rice.

It's a stainless dive watch, I need a watch that can withstand weather.

I'm clueless when it comes to watches though, it's a bit intimidating actually. I've read reviews Omega watches are excellent though.

Buy an old all-gold Omega and buy a reasonably priced dive watch.
Remember that NO WATCH MOVEMENT no matter how expensive the watch, costs more than 200$ to produce. Everything else money-wise is hype.

Most of the stuff I "collect" is actually part of my prepping project, so I don't think those collections really count in the context of the original post. Examples include guns, flashlights, knives, etc.

Stuff I "collect" just because I like it and it doesn't have a much to do with prepping? All I can think of is:

Movie DVD's/AVI's and Music CD's/MP3's
1970's and early 1980's pornographic magazines and videos
Coffee mugs with birds on them, especially chickens and cranes
Chess sets (I have 4 REALLY nice sets, and half a dozen average ones)
Binoculars and Telescope Eyepieces

That's about it for me... I used to collect stamps, but lost interest in that when I was about 25.

Henny Penny collects bells and glass paperweights, and she still has an interest in stamps.

Any recommendations on a reasonably priced dive watch?

I'm not a watch guy, but I've heard a good watch will last a lifetime, and some folks have good arguments to them holding their value.

I probably should have started a separate thread on this subject, because there's a lot of smart folks on this forum...

I`m not a watch guy but have been around big-time watch dealers for 2 decades. I have zero interest in flashy watches.
One thing I know from my dealings with them is that even they get screwed by fakes. I personally know 3 dudes who bought 300k worth of fake high-end watches on the same day from the same crook. This was a bit of a scandal in NYC watch dealer underworld.

I'm not "aiming" to get anything for it when TSHTF - as I originally posted, those are the collections that have nothing to do with prepping. Those things I collect because I enjoy them now, not looking to the future. I don't think coffee mugs or chess sets will have much value after the crash either... although the binoculars COULD come in useful afterward... that's not why I collect them. I collect them because I like looking at birds, stars, etc. through them.

Being a foreigner my English is spectacular but even I don`t know for sure what "turned out" means? Does it mean I became a prison bitch or a snitch?
No, I haven`t become a bitch in jail. But while outside of the confines of the prison, free as bird I gave up a few rotten dealers to the cops.
Asked for nothing in return. I had to simply kill the rotten dealers who sold me junk instead of dope but I didn`t wanna do time for that.
So,I killed them by giving them to the cops. Both had 2 previous felonies. Both are looking at life in the can now.
A snitch is someone who betrays those who trusted him. The dealers betrayed my trust first. Such shit gets killed for a 10$ bag of fake dope every day. Such are the rules.

Serpo, when Russian tough guys get together, we sometimes ask each if we have bodies on our souls. Some have killed before.
Others have not. I belong to a somewhat rare category, I am not sure if I did.
Once back in USSR when I was 18 in peak physical shape, a crazy drunk dude punched me in the face for no reason.
It was inside a subway car at night. I punched back. The dude put his hand under his jacket. I knew he had a knife so I charged him, knocked him on the floor and realized he was bluffing, he had no knife. I became so enraged I started jumping up and down on his chest listening to his rib cage turn to pieces. I don`t know if he is still alive, he looked pretty dead to me. I got the fuck out on the next stop.

You see, there are a few pseudo-macho guys on this forum, you know the type, nazi wannabes (not real Nazis, those were tough mothers). Others here pretend to be smart. Some pretend to be rich. Some pretend to be attrractive, others pretend to be sardonic etc,etc,...

Antonio,
First off, I'm going to preface this with a refresher of the forum rules:

Rule #2 - No spamming, or porn. Informational linking and posting is fine. Moderators will determine where to draw the line.

Rule #3 - Stay on topic. If you want to ramble, please go to the lounge.

Rule #5 - Moderators will interpret these rules. Moderators will try to be fair.

You apparently see this forum as your own private "playground" to do with what you want. You interrupt nearly every thread with your NY heroin junky pant-shitting Russian street thug talk... which, I will admit is somewhat interesting (in a surreal kind of way...) but also VERY disruptive, antagonizing, thread-derailing, and in many cases divisive and inflamatory. I've received more complaints against you in my PM inbox than any other forum member EVER since I became moderator - people here are tired of it.

Take an enforced week off... consider your future here - if thread derailing trolling is what floats your boat, maybe you need to find another lake to sail on.

Oh... and congratulations on being the first (and hopefully last!) member to be banned for off-topic trolling! ;)

....That guy didn't mention a single thing that he collects in like 5+ posts.

When I collect things, I do it slowly - I let them come to me.

I collect minerals, stones - I have many times many in my collection.
I collect books, mostly history or about the esoteric.

I collect all manners of cures and remedies for natural ailments. I have about 10 base oils and 150+ essential oils. This allows me to mix up a custom batch for any condition.

I collect rare metals, obviously. I have raw chunks of metal that are crawling with fluorite crystals, straight from the earth.

So please try to also relax and tried it as I asked above........a warning (up to three times) should do the trick .............. Ponce<--------getting his first warning for being outspoken and saying the truth.

Lets get this straight A.

You say you are this and you are that.................me Im a human being from planet earth, Ive got nothing to prove and am not the least bit interested in marcho bullsh#t.

When you can fully comprehend you are the same as me a human being....not a Russian , not a this and not a that.....then get back to me .....I somehow think that is going to take a long time.

Get over whatever it is you think you are because its a conditioning or brainwashing .

You are a simple human being ...if you cant understand this.....then it means you a caught up in it and its all baggage in the end

everyone identifies with something ... lose it....to gain freedom... or hang onto it and stay trapped.

I completely get your point.

You see, there are a few pseudo-macho guys on this forum, you know the type, nazi wannabes (not real Nazis, those were tough mothers). Others here pretend to be smart. Some pretend to be rich. Some pretend to be attrractive, others pretend to be sardonic etc,etc,...

What if a creature existed that was all those things? What kind of e-karma would it have? How would it react when dealing with the pseudo-types?

Those are good questions...

I pretend to own gold and silver and for this thread will pretend to collect Glocks.

I don't collect anything. I buy things that are useful and/or beautiful, but none of it would qualify as a collection. I have +100 10 Turkish Lira coins commemorating the 1960 27 May military coup, but I bought them because they provided me the cheapest silver in coin form available in Turkey...
