After posting about using Dots as a stomach upset cure, I thought I should start a whole thread about alternative medical uses for things you probably have already.
When you are camping and have not had a shower for a couple of days and are getting the Prickly heat and or "Crotch Rot" you can use Dandruff Shampoo on your groin region it really helps to get things feeling "right" down there again. It can also be used preventively with no problems either.
Post your own and I'll post more latter.

Not really a medicine but....
How to Make Baking Soda Toothpaste
Mix 1 tsp of baking soda with 1/4 tsp of hydrogen peroxide. Add one drop of peppermint oil. As an alternative, you can also have a lemon flavored toothpaste by adding lemon zest to the baking soda and processing in a blender or food processor. Apply mixture to your toothbrush and brush.
It's a great tooth whitener too. It's been used for years!

That's cool, it reminds me I should stock up on some more baking soda and vinegar. I think those two things get over looked a lot when we are stocking up.

Make sure you only buy Aluminum-free baking soda, it will specifically say it in the title if it is. Brands like Arm and Hammer cannot be trusted. You get enough Aluminum sprayed on you on a daily basis as it is.
UPDATE:
My info might be wrong, but just keep the info on mind:
http://www.indiadivine.org/audarya/ayurveda-health-wellbeing/1056434-baking-soda-aluminum.html
&

USE ONLY baking soda which is stated to be "aluminum free" (e.g. Bob's Red Mill Baking Soda) OR use pharmaceutical grade baking soda. Arm and Hammer is also acceptable (if an aluminum free brand is not available) because it is very high quality and has very, very little aluminum.

Do you think it matters much if it's mainly used for cleaning? I know, zero aluminum is best anywhere.
I only ask & wonder because maybe cost is a factor? I have yet to look for aluminum free baking soda, will start to though.

From the link posted:
Bicarbonate of Soda is NOT a byproduct of Alumimum smelting....FLOURIDE is a
byproduct of Alumnimum smelting.
This is how Arm & Hammer produces their baking soda (which has NO aluminum):
" ARM & HAMMER® Baking Soda is made from soda ash, also known as sodium
carbonate. To make ARM & HAMMER® Baking Soda, the soda ash is mined in the form
of an ore called trona. The soda ash is then dissolved into a solution through
which carbon dioxide is bubbled and sodium bicarbonate precipitates out, forming
" Pure, Safe and Natural " ARM & HAMMER® Baking Soda. "
Bottom line is DYODD. I would not be surprised that they were purposefully putting junk in the baking soda. I have been wondering for a while if baking soda has aluminum in it. I guess the only safe method is to buy it specifically aluminum free and hope it truly is.
Vinegar truly is a wonder. I had a batch of beer turn into malt vinegar once. Very tasty on spinach! Vinegar has many uses around the house too. It is superior for cleaning windows. Just mix vinegar with warm water and use newspaper as a cleaning cloth. No streaks.

Selsum Blue = selenium sulfide (I think 1%) = antifungal
Might sting more than more sensitive remedies (for more sensitive areas)
Put on insensitive areas overnight, then shower (or wash off) the next day

Another oral remedy. For years I've used warm salt water to help heal canker sores due to braces as a teen. Then as a dental assistant, we recommended it to patients to help heal certain wounds after precedures.
Fill up a regular 8 or 10 oz glass with warm water (just warm enough to dissolve the salt). Add about a tablespoon of salt. Stir until dissolved. Swish water for about 30 seconds to a minute (however long you can stand it) and then spit it out. Make sure you swish over the sore really well. Do this until no water is left. You can repeat until sore is gone.

Someone who has an acute asthma attack can breath in a paper bag. The accumulated carbondioxide will cause dilation of the bronchioles.

7 Home Remedies That Actually Work

Olives for Motion Sickness
Nobody is naysaying the wonders of modern medicine—what would we do without a medication like penicillin to treat infections? But, as it turns out, everyday items have secret curing powers, too. Already popped two aspirin but can’t get rid of the headache? A pencil could do the trick. Below, get medical explanations behind a few bizarre—albeit brilliant—MacGyver-esque home remedies.
According to the National Library of Medicine, there are a number of symptoms that present themselves as a result of motion sickness, including increased salivation, which is the body’s way of protecting the teeth from the high doses of acid accompanied by vomit. Enter olives, which contain tannins that, when released in the mouth, work to dry saliva—first eliminating the symptom and then the body’s instinct to follow suit. However, the treatment is only effective during the early stages of nausea, when the salivation changes first appear.

I've been trying to stop using prilosec the last month. Acid reflux has been horrible. A few days ago I started drinking baking soda and water and have had huge relief.

The root of pelargonium has anti-bacterial effect against helicobacter pylori among other bacterias, you can buy it as a extract solution that you drop in water, called Umca. I guess you can make it yourself by mushing the pelargonium root and let it soak in alcohol. Umca has helped against my gastric reflux anyway. I guess you can also drink some colloidal silver...
