Is the lost city of Atlantis on Google Maps?

It's rectangular. It certainly looks man-made. It's off the coast of North Africa. It's deep underwater. And it's on Google Maps.

Could it be the ancient lost city of Atlantis?

That's what Bernie Bamford, a British aeronautical engineer, wondered after he spotted an unusual pattern of rectangles on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean, The Telegraph newspaper reports. About the size of Connecticut, the pattern looks an awful lot like an aerial grid map of a city.Atlantis experts said that the unexplained grid is located at one of the possible sites of the legendary island, which was described by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato.

According to his account, the city sank beneath the ocean after its residents made a failed effort to conquer Athens around 9000 B.C.

Dr Charles Orser, curator of historical archaeology at New York State University told The Sun that the find was fascinating and warranted further inspection.

Atlantis is supposed to be enclosed in three large circles and not look like NY city.

Must be the future of NY city that we are looking at........what was is and what is was and this will happen many times.

There is another small town just off to the East of it with a connecting highway.

I also found an entire network cityplanet off the West coast of Ireland.

Much the same as the Death Star.

why do people want to find Atlantis? what else can we learn from a society that, as a rule, built it's entire metropolis below FEMA flood zone elevations? what's wrong with these people? i'll tell you what i learned from the whole debacle, put your house up on piers, slab on grade sucks!

I'm probably going to get burnt by mentioning this, but if you guys ever studied the Bible it says the earth wasnt full of water like it is today. It goes back to this state once again where the fermament is put back in place and the earth is watered once again with heavy dew and not rain. No oceans!

Yep, if the earth used to be a gas giant of water vapor it would most definately explain how it could rain 40 days and nights. It would also explain how people lived longer with reduced cosmic rays/radiation hitting them, larger trees reaching for sunlight etc. Of course the humidity would have sucked beyond all belief, especially if mosquitos are involved......

Some say that what Plato referred as Atlantis had nothing to do with the Atlantic Ocean or any culture thereof. According to him, Atlantis was actually a city on ancient Crete that sank into the sea during a nearby volcano's eruption. Hasn't been proved true, in any case, since Plato's writings on the subject aren't very reliable...

Nothing special about this really. If you do geo physical surveys, you will find land features from previous civilizations like this all over the place in areas with any 1000+ year history.

Yes, I believe that Plato thought that crete was the top of mount olympus, and that the mederterrainian sea used to be a fertile valley.

FromSerpo, I am sure you have heard about this before, but there are REAL RUINS under the water that we're studying right now.

The sea level has clearly risen as some point, for 100-200 feet off many coastlines, we can find architecture.

Off the coast of cuba, underwater, there are ruins.

Off the coast of Yonaguni, Japan, there are ruins.

Here are some pics, clearly these structures are manmade, which proves that the sea level used to be much lower, islands and continents used to be larger, and people used to live there when the ocean wasn't covering it:

All estimates about the Yonaguni site rate it at youngest: 8,000 years old. That's before the start of written history. No wonder mainstream science has no interest in studying this, it might disrupt their theories about where we came from.

Looks like an ancient sea dock.

Science has no explanation for the large amount of H2O on Earth.

I think it is the combination of hydrogen and oxygen at a two to one ratio. But I'm no scientist.

This is a particular problem for planetary scientists because the Earth simply should not have the amount of water that it does. The Earth is relatively close to the Sun, and water, a volatile, should have been expelled from the early inner solar system before the Earth formed. As such, the Earth should really be a much drier planet. So where did all the water that is so crucial to the biosphere of this planet originate?

Probably hydrogen in the core seeping out united with the oxygen combined with metal oxides in the mantel and carbondioxide of the atmosphere, created the water we have here today...
