View Full Version : Do you have a carry coin?

I like to have a "pocket coin" that I carry with me pretty much all the time. I keep an 1853 $2.50 gold coin in my change pocket pretty much every day. The coin itself is one of the first I ever bought on ebay; it's well circulated, it's an ex-jewelery piece with solder on the rim, and it's been polished. So it's pretty ugly as far as collectors value coins. I also keep a Silver American Eagle in my inside jacket pocket.
So, what do you carry for your pocket coin?

No... silver... LOL... I know my limitations... Even when I was carrying and playing and flipping the Eagle, I knew it would eventually get lost... :-\

The same reasons I carry mine. Those little $2.50 gold coins have .121 oz of gold in them, so just a tad higher than a 1/10 oz.

I do have a silver art bar that I put in my pocket when I go out and relax. That silver pocket piece is a 1-oz 1973 Mother Lode Mint silver art bar that says "Keep Me and Never Go Broke". A picture of this silver art bar is on post #2 of my "Silver Art Bar Porn" thread.

I never left. I am not posting nearly as much as I used to. I do not plan to post much this year because I plan to take several breaks from posting on GSUS, Cointalk, and Collector's Universe. Taking a break from posting helps me bring some balance back into my life.

Not quite correct. The $2.5, $5, and $10 Indian gold coins have peace eagles on them too.

Oh the irony of portraying 'the noble red man' on a coin associated with the notion of 'liberty' when by that point there was a well established record of oppressing 'the noble red man' in N. America, depriving him of his lands and putting him on 'reservations'.

Thank you for the education.
I thought the eagle talon/pointed spears meant war. I never knew the wings/up/down was symbolic as well.

I asked for one for Christmas 2009, and each of my sisters got me one! At $45, they're not cheap, unfortunately. (I think they were $40 at Christmas 2009, so you'd be ;) getting a better deal now than my sisters got. ) Here's the link (http://www.proudproducers.com/proddetail.php?prod=Silver1).

My favorite circulated coin is the Standing Liberty Quarter.

I love carrying these. I like showing people 'The Quarter Before the Current One' even though we've technically gone through several. This came before the washington quarter.

This was the style of the first silver round I ever had I bought it in tail end of 1979 when I was 6 years old. Sold it in 1980 for a profit, hooked on bullion ever since.
