I helped a buddy move some stuff and found a great knife sticking out of the trash can. It's an antler handle fillet knife, it's rusted and wore out but it fits great in the hand and I'd like to get the blade restored/replaced if possible. Is it worth it? It'd be good to be able to use it as a fillet knife but even for protection "as is" someone can be guaranteed to to get tetanus or blood poisoning from it. PM me if you'd like.

I`m an amateur knifemaker, have been making crude neck knives and karambits out of titanium and scrap planer blades.
I`ve been on bladeforums for about 10 yrs with lots of zero-negative feedback.
I could suggest you people who would be much more qualified than I am to do the job you need.
PS.IMHO rehandling costs more than the knife you are describing. Unless you are emotionally attached to it, try to clean it up and repair yourself.

How badly rusted is it? Are there rust pits? If not, you might be able to fix it up with some wet stones. A professional job would be too expensive.

If you were asking if anybody knew how to use a knife I'd recommend:

The other guy I'd recommend well he had the shyt kicked out of him the other day so we're all hoping he pulls through because he never uses a knife unless he's got a reasonable complaint:

It's pretty bad, I tried cleaning it up but it's rather too far gone at this point. I kinda thought I was barkin' up an empty tree but there's nothin' to lose by askin'. I'll either use her for a protection piece or cut the knife off and use it as a handle for one of my leather pieces.
