Silver is in a steady climb but it's got to get to $90 and ounce to be at the 16:1 ratio with gold.

What do you folks think?

Mick?........you are right, something going on that we don't know about or there is a shortage of silver.....$3.42 in three days is like in 1979 when I saw it going up the same way.

What made me the most nervous was the fact that all embassadors from around the world were call in at the same time......that alone tells me a lot.

There is something going on that we do know about. The blatant manipulation of a metal with inelastic demand. The only shortage is of people willing to stop hoarding and start selling!

I have to think end users are in buying with both hands here. No silver, no product. No product, no business. Between the price and the talk of shortage, it wouldn't surprise me if users were securing a years worth of supply.

And the cartel trades in all exchanges. If anything, I thought they'd pull it down on low volumes today. Maybe they are letting it rise on low volume so they can make more when they attempt to smash it down. Pretty risky prop though. I would think with price action like this, buyers will be waiting in the wings for any weakness.

It is interesting that even the informed (GSUS) are finding this a wild ride, even though we know where silver should really be in relation to where gold has gone. The distortion has even warped our perceptions.

Correct, Libya is a hingepin for the power brokers, technically it is a "Socialist Peoples Republic" which means it is secular, although still a dictatorship, Its western neighbors, Algeria and Morroco, are milder with sharia than those to the east, but still dictatorships.Tunisia and Egypt have just overturned their govt.and we dont know yet what we will get.a Islamic republic,or a true republic, I feel we will get the former, and more problems. In the end,it doesnt matter if its Islamic or Quadaffi run as it will still be a dictatorship.but stability will be less, and Islam emboldened.

where will silver land ? 1380 was hard resistance, now at 1405 , five bucks
down to silvers 90 cents, at 1425, SI will be ? Good spot to go short term
trade. Key expirey this week too.

High SI prices, I am waiting to be rich, that ain't going to happen though.

Doing some trading , it may mitigate that though.

That was no orderly decline. That was a friggin cliff dive. I don't think this was healthy for anyone other than Blythe and company.

Besides, we are talking paper price. I doubt that the local guys dropped a a buck-fifty on their sell price. I didn't check.

I haven`t sold physical in a very long time and I hope to die with my PMs.

Still I want to go to 47th st in Manhattan to the Diamond district and see what dealers pay for the physical today.

Does anyone know if we can get spot today? IMHO one should be able to get spot for SAEs today and maybe a fraction under spot for recognized bars. This could tell you if the dealers are desperate to get their hands on physical.

bellevuebully
24th February 2011, 07:46 PM
That was no orderly decline.

What matters is the markets perception of how willing investors are willing to scoop up a deal. Big drop, especially a non-orderly one, impresses upon the market the need to be on the buy side when the market recovers effortlessly.

In the old days around 5-10 bucks, any decline of this proportion would result in a 3 month bloodbath for anyone long. Today not so much. That's a good sign for longs, imo.

Kenny boy....if forgot you bought at about 27. I remember you feeling a like you had buyer's remorse. Glad to hear that has passed.

My suggestion is don't even pick a price point on selling silver. Change your strategy when the fundamentals change. When you bought at 27, just like today, nothing of the underlying fundies have changed...they have only gotton worse.

Woodman,

I became seriously interested in silver art bars in 2008 at a coin show. When I bought a few silver art in August 2008, I became hooked. From that point on, my main purpose was to buy what I like at the lowest premium possible.

For me, a successful silver art bar find is one where I can find a rare silver art bar and pay only .999 generic silver for it (instead of the ebay collectors premium). I feel very lucky to have some successful silver art bar finds under my belt over the years because I live near several local dealers and I am also close enough to be able to drive to 4 regional coin shows in a year.

As for me being ahead of the game, I do not know about that. There are silver art bar collectors that have much more knowledge and more experience than I do. I consider myself a "student" of the silver art bar hobby because I am still learning a lot about certain silver art bars. I have made mistakes buying silver art bars and I have made several impulsive purchases which I later sold for a paper profit to put back into rare silver art bars that I really wanted.

One reason why I made silver art bar "wish list" is because I wanted to have a goal of buying as many rare silver art bars as possible. My silver art bar wish list is very long. I finally completed my silver art bar wish list on December 31, 2010. This wish list also helps me cut down on impulsive purchases.

As for buying silver art bars on ebay, it is always about DYODD. There are advantages and disadvantages for me to use ebay to buy silver art bars. The advantage of using ebay is that I can find very rare silver silver art bars such as GreatHouse, The Mint, and Green Country Mint there. These bars and other rare silver art bars are extremely hard (if not impossible) to find locally at a local dealer or at a local coin show. The disadvantage of buying silver art bars on ebay is that you will pay a higher premium for them. For example, I have paid 2X to 3X spot for several extremely rare silver art bars on ebay. I do not have a problem paying that premium on ebay because 1.) They are very hard to find locally and 2.) I love them a lot. With spot at $33+, a vast majority of silver art bars on ebay will start at a BIN price of $40 and go up from there.

There is nothing wrong with buying silver art bars on ebay but if you are looking for the absolute lowest premium possible, then buying from a local dealer (or at a coin show) is your best option IMO. With that said, if you see a silver art bar on ebay that you really love to have, then you should buy it.

As for my method of buying silver art bars, I always try the local coin dealer route first to see what I can find. If unsuccessful on that particular day, then I will 1.) Try again at a later date to find common minted silver art bars or 2.) I will go on ebay to find any rare silver art bars that are on my wish list at a "reasonable" price.

For common minted silver art bars, I will usually try to buy those locally. For very rare silver art bars, I will use ebay to buy them.

Too many bids to keep this market down. Smart money sees the USD in serious trouble. Can't even get out of bed with the middle east in turmoil.

Don't the metal prices usually move up this time of the year. I remember a couple years ago when it
was around that $20 mark everyone was saying it was gonna keep climbing. I bought some then, my
first go at this, and was somewhat depressed for awhile. Then, later on that summer or maybe in the fall
I bought some more around the $14 mark which made my average easier to handle. If time repeats itself
I have this temptation to sell off, pay down some debt and hopefully get back in around $25 to 30. I have this guilty feeling that I shouldn't really be doing this when I'm not 100% debt free.

As long as you understand why it is called a "bull" market.....as in:

bull throws cowboy off back, cowboy gets stomped on and wonders "wha' happen'd?"

My suggestion is that you make a plan, have conviction about the plan, and let the chips fall where they will. Paying off debt is prudent, but thinking you can jump back on a bucking bull is a risky proposition. jmo

im growing weary of listening to supposed red pill people STILL measure the value of pm's by paper.

what we are watching is not pretty or good.....and NO your not "making money" ...
what we ARE seeing is the bottom dropping out of the worlds frns scams....silver and gold are the ledges we are standing on while watch the others dissapear in the implosion below us....i wish silver was still $ 6.00....hell i wish it were 1.00
those of you who truely understand money will know what im talking about.

remedial money talk 101.
