CBS, Warner pull plug on season of Sheen's sitcom.

LOS ANGELES – "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen has skirted disaster as a wayward, middle-aged party boy who regularly tested the patience of the TV network and studio trying to protect their valuable sitcom property.

It was a violence-tinged and anti-Semitic radio rant that helped push him over the edge and, finally, forced CBS and Warner Bros. Television to take action.

In a one-sentence joint statement Thursday, the companies said they were ending production on television's No. 1 sitcom for the season, a decision based on the "totality of Charlie Sheen's statements, conduct and condition."

Whether he's gone far enough to sink the series and, possibly, his career as one of TV's highest-paid actors remained unclear. Sheen's rambling interview Thursday with host Alex Jones was reminiscent of Mel Gibson's tirade during a 2006 traffic stop — but Sheen knew his remarks were public.

The production halt leaves CBS eight episodes shy of the 24 half-hours it had expected to air as the cornerstone of its Monday night comedy lineup. And it makes the network and Warner, which reaps hundreds of millions from the show in syndication, the potential go-betweens between Sheen and "Two and a Half Men" executive producer Chuck Lorre.

Lorre bore the brunt of Sheen's attacks during the radio interview and in a subsequent "open letter" sent to TMZ after the CBS-Warner decision and posted on the entertainment website.

In the letter, the actor called Lorre a "contaminated little maggot" and wished the producer "nothing but pain."

"Clearly I have defeated this earthworm with my words — imagine what I would have done with my fire breathing fists," the 45-year-old Sheen wrote.

Those remarks, along with his comments to Jones, veered from ludicrous to self-aggrandizing to threatening. For a man who has battled addiction and faced allegations of domestic violence, the outbursts raised troubling questions about his state of mind and his most recent effort at rehabilitation.

In an interview Wednesday, his father, Martin Sheen ("The West Wing," "Apocalypse Now") compared his son's fight against addiction to that of a cancer patient.

"The disease of addiction is a form of cancer," Martin Sheen told Sky News in London. "You have to have an equal measure of concern and love and lift them up, so that's what we do for him."

CBS and Warner had tolerated Sheen's recent misadventures, including wild partying and three hospitalizations in three months. The incidents are part of a checkered life that included his $50,000-plus tab as a client of "Hollywood Madam" Heidi Fleiss' prostitution ring, a near-fatal cocaine overdose in 1998, and conflict-filled marriages.

(Last August, he pleaded guilty in Aspen, Colo., to misdemeanor third-degree assault after a Christmas Day altercation with his third wife, Brooke Mueller. The couple's divorce was recently finalized.)

The TV season was interrupted for "Two and a Half Men" after Sheen was briefly hospitalized last month following a 911 call in which he was described as "very, very intoxicated" and in pain. Production was put on hold while Sheen tried rehab, reportedly at home, but also railed against the hiatus as unneeded.

He signed a new two-year contract at the end of last season that reportedly pays him about $1.8 million per episode.

Plans were set for taping to resume next week. Then came the Jones radio interview and the attack on Lorre that reeked of anti-Semitism.

"There's something this side of deplorable that a certain Chaim Levine — yeah, that's Chuck's real name — mistook this rock star for his own selfish exit strategy, bro. Check it, Alex: I embarrassed him in front of his children and the world by healing at a pace that his unevolved mind cannot process," Sheen told Jones.

"Last I checked, Chaim, I spent close to the last decade effortlessly and magically converting your tin cans into pure gold. And the gratitude I get is this charlatan chose not to do his job, which is to write," he said.

Lorre, who was born Charles Levine, is a veteran producer whose hits include "The Big Bang Theory," "Dharma & Greg" and "Cybill." He had no comment on Sheen's remarks or the production shut down, a spokeswoman said Thursday.

Speaking of himself, the star of the films "Platoon," "Wall Street" and "Major League" said he has "magic and poetry in my fingertips, most of the time."

But he also made repeated, unclear references to mayhem. At one point, Sheen called himself the new sheriff in town who has an "army of assassins."

"If you love with violence and you hate with violence, there's nothing that can be questioned," he said.

When CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler was asked about Sheen at a news conference in January, she said, "We have a high level of concern. How can we not?" she said.

When a reporter suggested a person in a different line of work and a similar track record would be fired, Tassler replied: "What do you get fired for? Going to work and doing your job?"

Trashy, but clever and well written. I watch it. Sue me. I actually realized recently that television, though a load of Hollywood trash, has more clever, well written, well-produced, and well-acted shows than I can ever remember. But what they've forsaken is any sense of values, which they used to try to preserve at some base level. It's now very well done trash. Perhaps that makes it more dangerous.

So, would anybody be surprised to see the show come back next year with huge ratings to open the fall season, following all this free publicity? Has a network ever voluntarily pulled the plug (permanently) from a show that was still making lots of money? I can't think of any.

Read earlier today that it was not 1 1/4 mill per show but 1.8.........so that in a 30 minutes show 10 is for commercial 3 for intruduction and so on.....that leaves 17 minutes for the actual show.......hummmmm he is not infront of the camera ALL the time, lets say about 11 minutes and that tells me that he was making about $125,000 of actual pay PER MINUTE of actual pay, and then you have payments for sold shows and residuals for every time that a show is shown............so, let's say that he was making about $160,000 per minutes............38 shows will not me made so the he lost around .......11 minutes times 38 equal 418 times $160.000 comes to about $1'440,000,000 down the drain...........well, he must be very happy now.

The 'other guy' who makes about twice as much as Charlie writing that show and now has two other shows and was inserting messages at the end of the show about Charlie dying canceled the show (and/or a Corp decision). Alex Jones, the radio host who Charlie Sheen called in to speak to and have his rant about Chuck Lorre appeared on ‘The View’ this morning. And it was perhaps the most fun and worrisome episode that the show has had this year. Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg were unable to control him and his outbursts and Walters had to end the segment shaking her head and telling him that he was indeed a good friend to Charlie Sheen.

Basically Alex Jones wouldn’t stop talking and kept going on about how Charlie Sheen was unfairly being compared to the devil and we should be looking at Bush and Gaddafi and other political leaders instead of focusing on Sheen. He also kept shouting out “Look at Infowars.com”.

Whoopi Goldberg kept trying to sway him back to talking about and focusing on whether or not he thought Charlie Sheen had other issues relating to his weird outbursts, but Alex Jones just kept talking about focusing on other people. He also compared Charlie Sheen’s behavior right now due to coming off the drugs and said he acted the same when he came off of cigarettes.

I have to say that Alex Jones was a bad interview and didn’t give any insight into the situation with Charlie Sheen but he did make for good TV. ‘The View’ had me laughing hysterically this morning.

Why has Charlie Sheen 'gone off' in such spectacular fashion? Admittedly, it's not exactly unusual for a Hollywood star to go on a drink and drug-fuelled 'bender' and end up in rehab, but for most of them that's usually the extent of the acting out. Charlie Sheen however appears to be in a different category. While he has an alleged history of drink and drug abuse dating back to 2005, his dramatically swift fall from grace really began late last year when he was arrested for causing $7000 worth of damage to a hotel suite during a weekend of drugs and prostitutes. Since then, his behavior has grown increasingly bizarre and, most recently, he seems to have adopted a 'god complex' that does not appear to be dependent on, or fueled by, any substance abuse (although there is obviously a strong possibility of him being bipolar).

This isn't the first time that Sheen's personal life and beliefs have been the focus of media scrutiny and used as an opportunity to push an agenda. Back in 2006 he began to voice his opinion that the official story of the 9/11 attacks did not make sense and questions remained unanswered:

Obviously, the topic I am broaching here is the possible link between Sheen's public stance on 9/11 and his subsequent psychological collapse and the media portrayal of him (with good reason) as being 'crazy'. Despite what many think, the idea that Sheen may be the target of surreptitious psychological interference by those who would prefer he keep his mouth shut about the 9/11 attacks is a reasonable one:

Project MKULTRA, or MK-ULTRA, was the code name for a covert, illegal CIA human research program, run by the U.S. Office of Scientific Intelligence. This official U.S. government program began in the early 1950s, continuing at least through the late 1960s, and it used U.S. and Canadian citizens as its test subjects.

The published evidence indicates that Project MKULTRA involved the use of many methodologies to manipulate individual mental states and alter brain functions, including the surreptitious administration of drugs and other chemicals, sensory deprivation, isolation, and verbal and sexual abuse. While the CIA claims that MKULTRA-type experiments have been abandonded, 14-year CIA veteran Victor Marchetti stated in various interviews that CIA mind control research continued. In a 1977 interview, Marchetti specifically called the CIA claim that MKULTRA was abandoned a "cover story."

If, as a result of his stance on the official version of 9/11, Charlie Sheen has indeed been targeted in one of the ways described above, he probably isn't the first. Consider the case of former MI5 agent David Shayler. In early 1996 Shayler became aware of an MI6 plot to assassinate Libyan leader Muammar al-Gaddafi in February 1996 without the permission of the then foreign secretary Sir Malcolm Rifkind. The plan involved paying £100,000 to the (officially 'terrorist' and 'al-Qaeda-linked') Libyan Islamic Fighting Group to carry out the attack. The group was paid to plant a bomb underneath Gaddafi's motorcade but the bomb was planted under the wrong car and failed to kill Gaddafi and instead killed several innocent civilians. Shayler then left MI5 and became a 'whistle blower'. Over the next 10 years he made efforts to expose the lies about the war on terror, the 9/11 attacks and the London train bombings.

Today, Shayler calls himself both "Messiah" - born out of his belief that he can save humanity - and also "Delores Kane" - his transvestite other self, a role for which he dons false breasts, mini-skirt and ginger wig.

Shayler told the local weekly paper: "I have realised that I am Christ and I am here to save humanity. In 2012 it is widely predicted that the world will end. It is predicted there will be a massive change in people's consciousness and we will see the end of Babylon and the end of the world as we know it. Jesus was a transvestite.''

Note the comment by the narrator in the last video above that: "many supporters say this turn robs him [Shayler] of his credibility, destroying a reputation for sensible anti-establishment bravery. The path from mainstream whistle blower to 9/11 conspiracy theorist to now self-proclaimed messiah could arguably be a wish come true for the secret services that once tried to gag him."

From this we deduce that, according to the mainstream media, those who disbelieve the official version of the 9/11 attacks are half way down the road to a messiah complex and thus fundamentally unstable, or in danger of becoming so. But I have to admit that it is a little frustrating to see mainstream media journalists flirt so closely with the likely truth of the matter - that in the cases of people like Shayler and Sheen, it is not their opinions or the fact of their 'break-downs' that are most intriguing, but rather the way in which the people who obviously want to see them consigned to the loony bin keep 'lucking out' in the most coincidental ways.

I don't doubt that these two could be psychologically manipulated in some way; after all the AP story (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110227/ap_on_he_me/us_med_experiments_on_humans) just came out about how the government conducted unauthorized secret tests and experiments on innocent, normal non-questioning-of-the-status-quo civilians.

Of course the AP frames it in such a way to lead you to believe this was all in the past, but we know better!

I could be wrong but I'm thinking that Sheen wanted to get back into the movies. Robert Blake said years ago that you don't go from movies to tv and back again it will kill your career so Sheen had to think of a exit strategy to get back into the movies.

So he takes a page from Joaquin Phoenix's script aka the "I'm still hear" movie and concocts this mental break down to drum up press. Meanwhile he knows the whole time he has the movie Major League III in the bag. So this all amounts to ton and tons of free press to get him back into the movies with a bang.

It might blow up in his face or it just might make him rich.

David Shayler is still a spook, I assume. He had a spook girlfriend. Was around 05-06 sometime that Shayler gave an interview to, I think "Sky News" in UK re 911 Truth; most of it he did fine, but at the very end he dropped trou and pinched of a big stinky turd into the punchbowl when he contended that there were no planes at WTC.

I think he also was a principal creator of a London 7/7 truth video, but I never watched it.

That's an intriguing idea! I wouldn't be surprised to find how low the various intelligence people will go in order to discredit the 9/11 truth movement (much like what the FBI did to the Black Panthers and other organizations through COINTELPRO).

But Sheen, he's a smart un (or else he has a brilliant publicist). He's going to join Sean Penn in Haiti on a humanitarian mission.

Check out the Bono glass frames he was wearing at the press conference. It's amazing how much gravitas a few ounces of plastic can give you, especially next to Penn looking like he just got out of bed. Penn needs to get Sheen's publicist. ;)
