As I have stated here and at the old gim I agree with the draft. If we are going to war lets get everybody involved. If we don't want to , lets not go to war.

What if the wars (read: invasions) are unconstitutional and immoral? What if the draft is unconstitutional and immoral?

Exactly my point dys. Do you notice how our life goes on like we are not at war? If you or I were sweating the draft for ourselves , our friends or our children I think the whole concept of WAR would hit a lot closer to home. Maybe some real initiative to get out of unjust wars.

Wars? What wars?

The US hasn't been in a [declared] war since WWII!

I think what would happen is a dramatic step up in war propaganda as opposed to what you describe. I hate to be cynical, but that is how I see it.

I'm inclined to agree... :-\

Remember Pearl Harbor? (or 9/11 for that matter)

When was the last time the USA fought a war that was actually engaged in to defend the country?
Against the Japanese, yeah, but that was engineered by FDR's administration to get us into a war
so that we could attack Germany, Japan's ally.

We provoked that attack. The record is clear. (I don't have the link but I think the book by Stinnet(SP) lays it out.)

But where is another war we had to fight to keep America and the people here secure?
All of the wars the USA has been fighting have not been to defend the country.

It is shameful the soldiers whose lives have been damaged and lost for a lot of reasons that had
nothing to do with "defending" the country.
They honorably did what they thought was their duty,
but they were outright lied to.

i guess i have to agree. if everyone was sweating bullets when they opened the mailbox for fear that junior might get sent off to some anti-terrorist campaign in whogivesafuckistan, people might say "enough."

Rangle has introduced this piece of legislation every year for at least the past 5 years, maybe more. It's simply a political ploy that even the Dem's can't stand behind anymore, what with all the terrorists running around and needing vanquishing.

And it's hard to discuss these matters with sheeple who are convinced that "they fought for our country". I can remember a few choice arguments with people when I challenged them to name me the last real war which was fought for real defense.

The draft is nothing more then a way to make the little people go off and die.

The elites do Not get drafted, some will enlist if they want a career in that direction but those with money have a way to avoid the draft system, always have and always will

That is a plan that would work!
