Gun magazines packing the massive firepower of up to 30 bullets should be long gone from New York since state lawmakers banned them in 1994.

They're not.

The Daily News this week accompanied State Sen. Eric Adams (D-Brooklyn) to two gun stores near Albany that routinely sell the high-capacity clips.

The large magazines - used by the likes of Jared Loughner, who shot Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed six in January - are still allowed in New York if they were manufactured before the 1994 law.

Both stores Adams visited claim they sell the old, legal models.

At Guns Inc. in Rensselaer, a Daily News hidden camera looked on as Adams bought two 30-round magazines for an AK-47 assault rifle.

The senator used his credit card to buy the clips - at $42.19 each - and walked out less than five minutes later without even having to show identification.

At B&J Shooting Supply in nearby Colonie, Adams arrived to find the shelves cleared out of large volume magazines.

"We expect them any time now," a store worker told Adams. "We have a bunch ordered.

Legal experts say there is a glaring loophole: There's often no way to tell when a magazine was made.

No law requires gunmakers to put a serial number or any kind of identifying mark on a clip unless it was made during the now-expired federal assault weapons ban, which ran from 1994 to 2004.

The New York ban did not expire, and gun control advocates warn gun owners and stores could potentially buy new magazines in another state and pass them off here as a pre-1994 version.

"All somebody would have to do is show an old receipt. You couldn't know for sure," said Paul Helmke of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

"This is why we need stronger federal laws because even when states do the right thing, it's hard for them to do so effectively when you can just go to the next state."

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-L.I.) has a bill in Congress that would ban the sale of all extended magazines across the country, though it's unlikely to gain much Republican support.

Adams is proposing similar legislation for New York.

"This bill is going to close the loophole so the clips are banned, period," Adams said. "The more rounds you're able to discharge prior to having to reload, the more dangerous you are."

Mayor Bloomberg recently spent $130,000 of city money to hire detectives with hidden cameras to show how it easy it is to pick up high-powered weapons - including extended magazines - at an Arizona gun show in the wake of the Tucson massacre.

"Before we can deal with Arizona," Adams said, "we need clean up our own state."

Jackie Hilly of New Yorkers Against Gun Violence said extended magazines have been used "in every mass shooting in the last five years. ... People who use them know they are able to increase the lethality of what they're doing dramatically."

Sellers insist they follow the law.

"What are they going to ban next?" asked a manager of Guns Inc., who refused to give his name. "I think a state senator has more to do and worry about in this environment than how many bullets a guy can put into a gun."

Ban all firearms in NY, NY. When the economy tanks and the hordes stream out of that cesspool, we here in heartland America will need some mechanism to bring a halt to that infection of the real America. Actual Americans feed the urban areas. We provide you with electricity, with the coal to feed power-plants. We protect you. At least for now. Try to heap more restrictions on us and see what happens.

Of all the crimes being reported recently, I've heard, knives, knives and more knives, handguns, people being beat. Haven't hear 30 round mags being a problem except for maybe ONCE IN A BLUE, but let's spend all our time and resources on this. Yep our state is really on our way to recovery.

Adams was a zero as a cop. Check his arrest records for his years on the job. A complete zero.

The murder rate amongst blacks is 10x that of whites. If one corrects for socio-economic status, the ratio is 7x. Justice Dept. / FBI stat.s provide raw data. When Media outlets show crime charts, they use a multiplier of 10x so that white numbers will show up on the graphic. I'm not kidding, I saw one of these charts, looked down to the fine print (in an itty-bitty-teeny-tiny font, beneath the caption) to learn that a 10x multiplier was used. If you want the numbers go to *.gov sites such as FBI annual crime reports, also look at stat.s out of Great Britain / Scotland Yard, also INTERPOL. Blacks commit more crimes irrespective of country. British police now carry firearms if they cover certain urban areas, especially black neighborhoods in London. G.B. began allowing open immigration from former colonies (such as Egypt, South Africa, former Rhodesia, ...) back several decades ago and ever since, the crime rate in England has exploded (if you'll pardon the pun). Brown races (e

Well I see all KKK and white supremicist crypto Nazis are out in force on this article. "When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross" - Sinclair Lewis "The means of defense against foreign danger historically have become the instruments of tyranny at home". – James Madison "The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders...tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger." – Herman Goering "Anyone who has the power to make you believe absurdities has the power to make you commit injustices". – Voltaire

I love how the survey doesn't include an option to keep our constitutional right. The majority of gun crimes are committed with illegal weapons, the laws already in place need to be enforced. There is no benefit to turning legal, responsible gun owners into criminals by signing a piece of paper. The majority of the people who are the problem don't care what laws are in place.

As soon as the " Powers that Be " can assure us that the Bad Guys can't get the clips, then let them take them away from the citizens. It's the same with the guns . Man all those years in the UK I'll bet the " Bad Guys " just loved those gun laws. Talk about , " shooting fish in a barrel "

MR ADAMS BOUGHT AK-47 MAGS THE AK IS A LONG GUN AND VERY DIFFERENT FROM A HAND GUN. PLEASE FACT CHECK BEFORE YOU PRINT STORIES LIKE THIS. IT IS VERY EASY TO TAKE A MOMENT TO DO THIS.

WHAT A BUNCH OF FOOOOOOY THIS STORE IS. FIRST OF ALL WE HAVE A VERY WACKADOODLE NEW YORK STATE SEN WHO SPENDS TIME AND MONEY (OURS) TO FEATURE A SUBJECT THAT HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT. HE COULD HAVE USED THE INTERNET TO LEARN ABOUT THE SUBJECT BEFORE HE SPENT OUR TIME AND MONEY PROVING THAT HE IS A DANGEROUS WACKADOODLE. THAN WE HAVE A FINE REPORTER WHO DOES NOT TAKE THE TIME TO FACT CHECK AND IS DUPED BY THE WACKADOODLE. FACT MR JARED LOUGHNER HAD A HAND GUN. FACT THE AK47 MAGS THAT MR ADAMS BOUGHT CAN ONLY BE USED FOR THE AK-47 LONGGUN. ONE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE OTHER. MR ADAMS SHOULD CORRECT THE MISINFORMATION HE HAS PUT OUT AND THE REPORTER SHOULD FACT CHECK SO IT DOES NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. GOD HELP US ALL IF THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE FOR A STATE SEN

This guy is a clown. ATTEMPTING to punish a majority as a result of a minority is a weak move. This guy is trying to me "a man of the people" by claiming that everyone who purchases high capacity magazines goes out and commits a crime. Criminals will simply take a drive to Pennsylvania or Vermont to get what they need. Eric Adams, what a bafoon.

More flith from this prick....... look at the EBR and "assault" gear

When someone refers to a politician showing up at a news conference with a lot of firepower, they're usually acknowledging a coterie of well-connected advocates and other elected officials. But on Wednesday, state Sen. Eric Adams showed up with some genuine firepower: an FS2000 semiautomatic rifle and a range of ammunition clips.

Adams called the event to screen hidden-camera video showing his recent purchase of a 30-round clip at Guns Inc., a Rensselaer shop. The sale was first reported Wednesday in the Daily News.

The $39 transaction was perfectly legal under current law, which allows for the sale of larger clips manufactured before September 1994.

Adams was joined at the news conference by his fellow Brooklyn Democrats Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries and Sen. Kevin Parker to support legislation that would outlaw all clips or other feed devices, regardless of their date of manufacture, with a capacity greater than 10 shots.

Adams noted Jared Loughner, the accused shooter in January's massacre in Tucson, Ariz., was using a large-capacity clip, and was subdued by bystanders while he was reloading.

Jeffries said there was no reasonable need for a 30-round clip beyond "an addiction to a gun culture in our society."

An employee of Guns Inc., speaking on condition of anonymity, viewed Adams' purchase as little more than a publicity stunt. "I feel the senator has wasted his time," he said.

The employee, who did not handle Adam's purchase, said purchases of the clips in question are "rare -- that's a unique type of weapon."

Also, "Most gun clubs frown on multiple shots being fired in rapid succession," the employee said.

Adams' bill faces an uncertain future in the Senate, where the narrow Republican majority is not usually warm to gun-control measures.

Adams, a former police officer who owns three guns, said the State Police had made sure the FS2000 -- he declined to name the rifle's owner -- had its firing pin removed before entering the Capitol, and all his display clips had been emptied.

"The State Police don't trust me with live ammunition," he joked.

U.S. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, D-NY, has introduced a bill in Congress that would ban the same kind of high-capacity magazines.
