I'm thinking about getting a camper van. What has been your experience with them? what would you look for if you were buying one today?

Thanks

If you get a van put these two bumper stickers on the back:

That does look pretty nice. Probably way out of my price range though. I'm looking to spend only a few thousand on a pre 80's model.

I've got to ask, how much are they asking for that one? Just beautiful woodwork and cabinetry.

Most RV's, especially travel trailers, have a "rubber roof". If I were in the RV market I would narrow my search to RV's that do not have such a pathetic roof. That's one thing good about busses and vans, you usually get a steel roof.

Fantastic. That is a great bug out vehicle. On the outside, it looks like some over-sized jalopy, but on the inside..it's just great. I wonder if it comes with the cute gal too. ;) For 30K, that's not a bad price, imo. A lot of work went into that bus.

Seems that a trailer would be way cheaper and more functional.

:dunno

I was in the market for a RV last June. Then I noticed that the short school buses here in the mountains are four wheel drive and I'm currently looking for one to turn into a RV.

I did pick up a 1999 Ford van with 90K on the clock for 3 grand. The owner had installed solid oak cabinets, a fold down bed, a fridge, sink and three gallon water tank.

I often wondered if a reefer truck would make a good camper.

Whenever my brother stops by, he has to write "free candy" in the dust on the rear window.

I had a dream involving my van last night. I was driving my daily driver which sits low to the ground. It's in the future and the road surface has deteriorated to the point where most of the exhaust components were ripped from the bottom of the car, along with brake lines, ect. I abandon the car and I'm in my van. Darkness falls and I stop to sleep under a street light in downtown city. I'm awakened by someone slimjiming my door. Just as they open the door, I have the van started and I'm driving away. The next morning, I dig through a random box of hardware and find two eyebolts that I install in the inside door panels. I later run a tie down between the bolts and sleep a little better within the dream. I'll be doing this mod later this afternoon.

Thank you for sharing this dream, Milehi. You just made me realize I need to do something like this with my boat. I'm going to try and do this today as well.
