interactive before and after photos of Japan

Bear in mind that the before pics were obviously taken in summer months, and the after photos are taken now, during the winter, so if they look especially barren, that's why.

I'm curious how someone was able to take the photos of the exact same spot and angle, so exact that it could be overlapped to show before and after in the *exact* same spot. So they were at the exact same height above and everything.

ETA:
After thinking about this, these are google map images? I guess that would make sense. If they were saved and then viewed again after the earthquakes.

ETA again, lol: I just realized google maps is not necessarily recent so I am suspicious about the before/after photos. Too perfect.
