This is where the real danger is and has been all along. The fuel in that pool is hot because it came from the reactor when it was shut down for maintenance in November. No station power and no circulation of water in the spent fuel pool is what caused the explosion. This is a melting pile of nuclear slag and it doesn't look like there is a thing they can do about it at this point. The Japanese govt needs to call BP and the Russians in a big hurry.
