View Full Version : Is this possible - 6 months worth of preps for $220

Well I made a trip to Costco today and just purchased a bunch of food to use as preps. So I'm doing the inventory at work and this is what I came up with. Am I missing something or does this make sense the way I did the calculations?

depends upon how big a serving you are looking at.

i have a can of tuna in front of me that allegedly has 2.5 servings in it. what's that, 1 tablespoon or so? i'd starve on 3 servings of 1 tablespoon of food a day. or at the very least, i'd have to lay in a pile and not move around.

Yeah three servings per day... going by what you have up there as a serving (1/2 can of most things) I have 4-6 servings per meal, so 12-18 servings per day.

If you can get through a day on 1/2 can of peas, 1/2 can of chili, and 1/2 can of corn I guess you're ok though. It could probably keep you alive for the 6 months assuming you didn't do anything and kept warm.

Hmm, you like to eat "young sweet pees"? Yikes. I personally prefer peas, but whatever floats your boat man.

I just got 6 weeks worth of food @2000cals/day for $37. I figure rice isn't going to get any cheaper with all the Doom in Japan and likely Asia.

Pedobear is a popular joke on the website 4chan,[2] which adopted the character primarily as a way to mock users requesting or posting sexualized images of children.

Actually, Costco tuna comes in 7 oz. cans (supermarkets are typically 5 oz.) so 3 servings might be right.

Indeed, General, you need more rice and chili. Mix a can of chili with rice and it'll satisfy the hungriest of appetites. A good SHTF meal, imo. I actually eat this quite regularly I enjoy it so much. Add a tortilla, cheese, and salsa, you've got a burrito as well!

Servings don't really mean a damn thing Calories are the key to the kingdom.

I love love the adds where it says 3 meals a day 1200 calories total

You are going to die on that ammount remember all work is manual in SHTF. Lumberjacks that hand fell trees used 6000 clories a day to stay even. (you ever seen a picture of fat lumberjack in 1900). I budget 4000 calories a day for me walking digging hinting gathering.

If you go into starvation mode you also become a giant Pitri dish for everysingle cootie out there and there are going to be a shitwack of them floating about in the new 3rd world.

Emergency essensials has a great calculator to add in your inventory and figure all the stuff out.

hope that helped

Taking another look, the General is allocating 3 servings a day. One can of spaghetti sauce he has listed has 4 servings. So, a day's worth of food is 3/4 of can of spaghetti sauce, in this calculations.

So, I'd say 3 servings per meal. 3 meals per day, minimum of 9 servings per day just to stay alive. So that would be 2 months of food and you'd be very sickly and thin at the end, imo.
