Its now become clear a digital scale and related testing items MUST be a part of your survial kit.

Its would also be wise to purchase some dummy rounds on purpose........The average theif wont know the differnce until it come times to fence it.

Great video.

One thing to look out for when looking at Chinese Pandas is the yuan symbol. You can tell, without weighing it, that a Chinese Panda is a fake because there is no yuan symbol on the front of the coin. It does not work all the time because there are fake Pandas with the yuan symbol on it but checking to see if there is a yuan symbol and a denomination is a quick way to check to see if a Panda is real or not. Like the video stated, the digital scale is your best friend.

Do not buy Pandas on ebay. If a person really like Pandas, the best thing to do is to buy them from a reputable local dealer and for extra comfort request that local dealer to weigh them before you buy them. APMEX is the only trusted online bullion dealer that I can think of if you want to buy a Panda online.

Other fake silver to look at for is any bar that says "100 mills" stamped on the front. Also stay away from any bars that have "15 grains" stamped on it. More information can be found here:

I used to work with scrap gold and silver a lot. When you handle PMs daily you develop an eye for karats and can see underkarated gold right away. If you stop doing this for awhile you will lose this ability and may not be able to reliably tell even 10k from 14k . As soon as you get back to this, the eye for gold colors returns. The feel for density is more stable, I can always feel a fake silver coin right away because the tin alloy is much lighter. Carry a scale and acids with you at all times when shopping for PMs.
The tin alloy is also much softer than silver, when you file it it feels like butter under a file.
