I went to WM to get a can of spray paint , just had to go look to see their ammo supply like always .
Ammo supply was shorter than usual , But they had all new cases for it and new labels that show they are going to have hollow points in .9mm and .45 which they only had if they were accidentally shipped to them before .Then the real shock came with the second new case they installed .Keep in mind as told by the guy at the counter all this was done over night with no advance notice .
Yes , there in its brand new case was ------ wait for it ----------------- Firearms !!!!
Yes they are now selling firearms for the first time , not just the black powder rifles but now they have .22s , .243s , 30-30 , .270 , 12 ga and empty slots for more to come.
What is going on ?

Wake me up when they are selling handguns. They've been selling long arms in the SE USA since I was a little kid.

Yeah, but a few years ago, many of the Wal-Marts that used to carry long arms stopped selling them (a move which I thought likely permanent). If that trend is reversing, then it is worth noting.

I know , I know lots of WMs sell guns but this one has never sold anything except black powder rifles .
15 + years and then over night new cases , and guns brought in and put out and the guy at the counter said that even he had no ideal till he came in this morning about it happening either.
That's the point , not that WM in general sells guns just that a store that has never sold them before last night now selling them in this age of guns are evil , lets get rid of them all and the world will be at peace.
Oh well I guess if a new outlet for the public to aquire firearms in this day and time is boring , sorry to have taken that 30 seconds of your life away .
Oh , by the way its Kentucky

I'm in CA. I don't ever remember them having guns or ammo. I've called and asked around many of them, even sport goods stores. In fact, there's only ONE gun store for miiiiiiles around (ma and pa gun shop too), and I'm in a sea of millions of people.

That's cool, none of the Walmarts in my area sell firearms of any type. I'd me more impressed with handguns as well, but rifles are a great start.

I had no idea there were WMs below the Mason-Dixon line that didn't sell longarms. Congratulations on rejoining the South, KY! ;D
edit: Yeah, I wasn't trying to be a jerk, either. I was taken aback to realize the WM in question was in KY. Restricting guns seems more like a Commiefornia thing to do than a bluegrass attitude. I appreciate all non-confrontational threads on this forum.

No problem or offense taken , I was just a little hyped up seeing this as a victory even if it is a very minor victory.

Let Walmart sell
Every purchase is one more Firearm in the hand of The Commoner
I would buy whatever I could get my hands on cause rest assured the spigot will get turned off just as fast.

My WM has two glass case with rifles, they rotate in a circle so that you can see them better.

Some of the old upper management has been pushed out at Walmart and the new people have decided to reintroduce firearms. No handguns yet like a few years ago, but it may happen. Falling sales at Walmart have the new management looking at what worked for them in the past and firearms is one of the new changes.

I've bought several rifles from walmart and a lot of ammunition when they had it. They were out of 45 long colt for a long time. They had a couple of boxes when I asked for it. Twenty rounds for $18+ and I said no thanks. If that's what it's costing now I'm going to start hoarding what I have.

if your walmart has no guns ASK TO see the book and you can order from it and have it ship to that store
