Are you suffering from arthritis? If statistics are an indication, there are likely a half dozen people on this forum who have arthritis. I have it. Over the last six months it has gotten so painful that I hesitate at the thought of taking a walk that lasts more than 10 or 15 minutes. Pain in the knees and hips. I also have it in my thumbs, which makes it very painful to grasp things and open jars. It got to the point where, because of the pain, I started getting depressed.

Well, not long ago, I was browsing the WWW, and I found an article here:

http://whale.to/w/boron.html

This headline appealed to me because it is consistent with what I have observed about all our institutions--that their main objective is to make money and increase control over people. I did more research, and concluded that this fellow was on the level, and he had some persuasive scientific evidence for his claim.

So, I ordered a pound of borax from a chemical supply house. That was before I learned I could buy it at my supermarket for about $4 for a four pound box. 20 Mule Team Borax is what it is.

I put my reagent quality borax into a small 4 oz Mason Jar (not a Freemason jar), and I started taking it. I lick the end of my index finger and dip it into the jar. Whatever sticks, I lick it off. I've been doing this twice a day for the last 10 days. At first, the stuff tasted like a janitor's mop bucket, but I got used to it, so now it just tastes like less salty salt.

I'm 10 days into this treatment. I noticed a few days ago that the pain in my knees and hips started to recede. The pain in my thumbs is departing as well. I started getting more restful sleep at night. These hopeful signs started to lift my depression, and I am starting to feel the way I did before I was afflicted with this dread disease. I think this arthritis treatment works for me, but I will reserve judgment until I have done it for about 3 months. If the arthritis disappears completely, I will claim victory and move on.

Friends I have told about this have turned me on to a different treatment that has worked for them. This is the 'gin and golden raisins' treatment. Soaking golden raisins in gin, and letting the gin evaporate is how to prepare it. Then eat 9 of the raisins each day until arthritis abates. I haven't done this, but will try it if the borax treatment does not completely get rid of the arthritis.

I recently finished reading a book by William Dufty called The Sugar Blues. I am starting to believe that all the chronic metabolic diseases we have--like cancer, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, and others are the result of some nutritional deficiency, or ingestion of some substance (like sugar) that interferes with proper metabolizing of nutrients. Our 'health care' system doesn't want us to cure these conditions because they make a lot of money from us being sick. For all practical purposes, we are all on our own, and we need to take responsibility for maintaining our own health, because we will never get good advice from our medical practitioners.

I call my approach 'Do it Yourself Health Care'. I would like to hear from anybody here if they have had such experiences, and what were the results.

Thanks, Hatha. I haven't heard of the Borax treatment, but I have heard about the gin and raisins one, although I never tried it.

I am tagging this for your updates. ;D

Borates are weak toxins admittedly; however, they are cumulative toxins with slow elimination. I wouldn't do the ingestion of Borax or the like - but that's me. You have osteoarthritis, age arthritis where the cartilaginous low-friction joint surfaces have worn down and now bone grinds on bone which in turn cause inflammation of the joint lining. Two ways to ameliorate this are:

1. boost the body's natural anti-inflammatory response (i.e.adrenocortical steroids).
2. lubricate the joint (i.e. maintain good hydration; a diet rich in hyaluronic acid etc.)

To accomplish the former, a diet designed to fortify the adrenal gland consists of:

Vitamin C 1-2 grams per day divided doses
Pantothenic Acid (B5) - 100-200 mg/day
Full B-complex vitamin preferably as natural Brewer's yeast (ad libitum)

Green tea extract is loaded with anti-oxidants which tend to inhibit inflammation locally at the joints themselves.

I'm sure there are other things that can be done diet wise.

Good luck - I feel your pain!

Arthritis definitely concerns me as I get older (currently 33) as it runs in my family.

So far I am still able to run 3-4 miles and exercise as I have been for the last 10 years. Only pain I have anymore is muscular. I also consume 5,000 IU of Vitamin D3 a day which I've read helps in preventing arthritis as well as Rheumatoid Arthritis, among many many other aliments. D3 is a natural anti-inflammatory so it would make sense that it would help ease the pain.

I take quite a bit of Vitamin C, and full complex B vitamins. Mostly for the good energy boost.

I know the question was directed at Mamboni, but I do know this one. ;D Hopefully he doesn't mind.

As long as you live north (which you said you live in Wisconsin) consuming that much from the fall to spring should be fine. In the summer you might back off a bit, unless you work outside a lot. Then you'll want to quit supplementing all together during that time. If you're outside with a shirt off, your skin will make anywhere from 20,000 - 40,000 IU in about a half hour of sun exposure.

Also there was a study I read that (I believe it was on naturalnews) showed no toxicity to taking 40,000 IU a day.

I concur with Dr. Ares. ;D

Thanks for the tip, Mamoboni. I've been taking Vit C--about 1 gm a day, and the B Complex vitamins for years. The pantothenic acid (B5) is something I thought was in the B Complex I take. The Hyaluronic acid is also something I need to look at. I think gelatin has some potential joint benefits because it is made of gristle from meat.

I have one friend who takes Celebrex and is happy with it.

I'm not a big fan of prescription drugs. Usually there is a simple direct inexpensive cure for whatever ails you. Most of our health problems come from overconsumption of the wrong things. The rest are caused by poisons, parasites, and nutritional deficiencies. God gave us an immune system to keep us healthy. The least we can do is to take care of that immune system as best we can. That is the best form of health insurance I can think of.

I'm reporting back on the Borax treatment. I was following the advice of Rex Newnham--to take 3 mg/day of Sodium Tetraborate--20 Mule Team Borax. I started on March 21, 2011, and continued until May 13, 2011. My procedure for taking it was to lick the end of my index finger (pointer) and dip it into a jar of borax. Whatever stuck to my finger, I licked it off. I did this twice a day during the roughly 7 week period indicated above.

This treatment did NOT work for me. I did not get any significant relief from arthritis by doing this. I don't feel however that I have suffered any harm from ingesting that amount of borax.

I did however prepare some of the gin and raisins treatment, and started taking that on May 13. But I didn't do it with actual gin. I got about a pound of golden raisins. Then I got about two dozen juniper berries and crushed them into a paste using a mortar and pestle. I scooped out the paste and put it into a one quart mason jar, and added about 4 ounces of 190 proof everclear alcohol. I shook it and stirred it until I felt that the alcohol made a juniper berry tincture, and let it sit overnight. I then added the raisins to the jar, and added enough additional alcohol so that the raisins were all immersed in liquid in the jar. I let this mixture sit for a day, and then removed the raisins into a glass pyrex casserole dish and let them dry. That took another two days. When they were dry, I scooped them up and put them into another jar, where they sat until May 13. For the last three days, I have taken 9 of these raisins each day.

My arthritis pain immediately started to recede. I felt it most acutely in my knees--and most intensely when I am walking up or down stairs. That pain is dramatically reduced, if not gone in just three days. I also have such a pain at the base of both my thumbs. This makes it hard to grip things, and very difficult to open jars. That pain is also receding. It seems that the juniper berries and the raisins are an anti-inflammatory combination, and they are an effective treatment for my arthritis. Far more so than the borax.

I'm going to see how effective this treatment is. I'll keep it up until I run out of raisins, and stop. I want to see how long it acts on the arthritis. How long after stopping the treatment before the arthritis returns. I'll likely follow up on this in a few months--most likely before the end of this year.
