Ashkelon residents report seeing Grad explode in midair as dozens of rockets fired at south

Residents in Ashkelon reported Thursday seeing Israel's new Iron Dome defense system intercept a Grad rocket fired towards the southern city from the Gaza Strip.

Eyewitnesses told Ynet they saw the rocket explode in midair and realized that the system had intercepted its first rocket.

Moshe Ben Hemo, a resident of Ashkelon, said, "I was in the street and I heard a strange sound, like someone pushing the gas pedal of a car. Then I saw the rocket fly through the air and explode. Immediately I realized that it was Iron Dome, that's what has been said here."

He added that the rocket alert had not been set off. "The rocket was apparently supposed to explode in Ashkelon. In any case I'm glad the system works," he said.

After hitting a student bus traveling through Shaar Hanegev Regional Council Thursday, critically wounding a 16-year old boy and lightly injuring the driver, terrorists in Gaza fired more than 15 rockets and mortar shells at Israel. No further injuries were reported.

Ashkelon's Iron Dome system was set up just Monday, with soldiers running extensive tests to make sure it was functioning properly. Another system was set up earlier in Beersheba.

The defense establishment decided to place the system earlier than planned due to the recent escalation of violence in the south. It has already been set up in Haifa, and in the coming weeks officials plan to put it in place in central Israel as well.

Bizarro world.

the Talmud worshippers can say whatever they want in their newspapers.

"After hitting a student bus traveling through Shaar Hanegev Regional Council Thursday, critically wounding a 16-year old boy and lightly injuring the driver, Palestinian farmers living in the Concentration Camp known as "Gaza" managed to fight back, and defended their land by firing 2 rockets and mortar shells at Israel."

the Talmudvision MSM tends to exaggerate.

the Horizon pseudo-Christian Fellowship in San Diego reported that Gaza residents were firing 60 rockets a day prior to Operation Cast Lead. this came out in their December 27, 2008 sermon, mere hours before Israel started bombing the hell out of the Gaza civilians, killing 1400+ of them.

besides the fact that Pastor Bob was lying through his teeth, why did Bob deliver a "if you want to go to Heaven, you have to support Israel", to his flock of vultures mere hours before Operation Cast Lead ?

Bob's Prophecy lectures, the ones that contain the most political content, used to only come out about every 6 months.

although they were quite popular, they have been renamed. i doubt that Pastor Bob has stopped talking politics in his sermons.

Interesting that the only terrorist Grad rocket that their missile was able to hit was one heading towards the city and not one of the fifty (according to them) that went nowhere and damage nothing.

i think you hit the nail on the head, they wanted to test their war-toys, they needed an excuse.

the US military's missile defense is a laugh. TRW/ Northrop Grumman alone has had 2 whistleblower lawsuits that i know of ... one of them settled for $110 million. Northrop obviously "admitting no wrongdoing".

Nira Schwartz was the plaintiff in the other lawsuit. Phillips & Cohen i think was the whistleblower's attorney for the case that settled for $110 Million.

i also believe that the shootdown of TWA Flight 800 on Long Island was a case of a botched missile defense. they came up with the lamest excuse in the world, brittle Kapton on the wiring (same stuff as they use in bullet-proof vests, they also use for electrical insulation ... it works good.)

because of that idiotic excuse, i had to write a long letter begging a Navy procurement manager to let me use a Kapton circuit on a radar system i worked on. at the time i bought their bullshit that, "under certain conditions, the wiring becomes brittle and acts like a firecracker fuse." but actually i think it's bullshit that stems from their attempt to cover up Flight 800 - they blamed it on the Kapton wiring.

what i think was happening is, they were testing missile defense, and they fucked up, which is normal in R&D. but it cost about 250 people their life, and the US military wasn't willing to confess ... so they blamed it on the insulation. maybe that will make some other airplanes safer.

THEORY

~ why i think the US gov. is so pathologically wierd about their missile defense programs ~

it is related to their enormous black budget. Rumsfeld provided considerable insight to this when he admitted on Sept. 10, 2001 that the Pentagon had lost/ misplaced $1 Trillion.

so where did that money go ?

the part of the US government that works on programs that are classified "above top secret" pretty much has final say on a lot of things. in some ways they have more power than the US president & his staff. they are career employees.

one of the technologies that is officially categorized part of missile defense is the ABL, airborne laser. this is another Northrop Grumman Project, part of what they bought when they bought TRW. that is weapon that does have the ability to shoot down a UFO. officially, it is missile defense.

in other words, i think they are serious about taking on ET - if necessary. but they don't want to admit that ET exists until they can say they have a way to defend against an errant ET. and products like the ABL definitely have the ability to vaporize a small UFO. that doesn't mean the electronics are immune to interference ... just that i think one of the reasons the US gov. is so wierd about some programs is because it's like that scene in Wizard of Oz when Toto pulls back the curtains.

the US gov. doesn't want the general public knowing about a lot of things so when they fuck up like they did with the shootdown of TWA Flight 800, they do some awfully strange contortions instead of just saying, "we were testing missile defense, we fucked up, be happy."

Not denigrating your good message, but the figure was actually over 2 trillion.
