Simple. The United States & Israel maintain plausible deniability, but continue on their path of World Destruction. They pull the "rebels" strings - if indeed rebels were involved at all.

what comes to mind is the image of choking.

oil at $112 and climbing chokes off the economy & paints the general population into a corner.

Reminds me of when I liked pokemon, pokemon are the shit. One was Tangela it would use it's may vine like limbs to choke it's prey. It's main attack was "constrict". Tangela reminds me of a personification of TPTB with no face and many limbs, it uses "constrict" as in rising oil prices to attack it's prey, by constricting the populace.
