Got a surplus CV-717 when the state unloaded their CD inventory, but it's in need of checking out/calibrating. Anyone got suggestions for a good value in current production sensitive geiger counters?

To those who wrote me a pm telling that they did want one of the three geigers that I was giving away, sorry to say that I can't do it........my heart got ahead of my head, and safety, when I made the offer, with all the stuff that I have been posting that I have I don't think that is safe fo me to tell anyone where I live, the Zionist (Jews) already do know exactly where I live at and that's why I say that anyone that comes into my property, specially into my inner fence, will be dog meat.

I must keep my tp safe at all cost ;D

I got my CD V-700 for $40.95 shipped from radiationguy.com

I'm pretty happy with it.

I gather that those older CD issue survey meters need to be re-calibrated about every 4-5 years. Did the one you bought come with a recent certified calibration?

SG20, you acquired an actual 'geiger counter' in the CDV-700. My CDV-717 is a 'survey meter'. Both can get a certified calibration here - http://www.radmeters4u.com/calibrate.htm

It appears the thing to do in order to have an accurate, reliable instrument at the best price is to buy a CDV-700 from your source then send it for certified calibration at the above referenced service facility.

It has been calibrated recently relative to the manufacture date...

It was manufactured in 1962 and calibrated last in 1990.

I did, however, test the device using the check source sample on the side of the unit, and it gave me the reading that it was supposed to according to the manual.
