Mower County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for suspects after $3,000 in collectible coins and bills were stolen from a woman in Austin Township over the weekend.

Chief Deputy Mark May said the 62-year-old woman was out of her house for most of the morning and early afternoon Sunday, and when she came back the coins and bills were gone.

The burglar entered the home through a door on the second floor, May said. It appears the door was pried open.

Among the stolen items was a lock box carrying many wheat pennies, mercury dimes and collector’s nickels. Rare $20 and $10 bills are also missing from the collection.

The woman told deputies her dogs normally intimidate anyone who comes near the property unless the dogs are familiar with the person. May said there are no suspects and the matter is still under investigation.

Dogs can be bribed w/ food too. No mention of neighbors, etc. hearing/seeing anything either. Broad daylight!

CHECK.....that's the first thing I thought of.....the burglars threw down a bunch of ground meat (probably 80/20).... :D ...actually; they probably threw down a cheap, tough cut ....that way it'd take the dogs longer to eat it :D

Look for the grandson with a drug problem. (Possibly a granddaughter, though IMHO this is less likely [oldest profession])
