God provided us with trees but a more formal gallows is sometimes needed along with a brass orchestra.
PS. Most social problems can be cured with 1" thick rope.

Hanging is romantic but fails to achieve its purpose in sufficient numbers for the craftsmanship involved. And trying to move one around - hey look at that guy with the gallows sticking out of his sunroof. You can spend the equivalent amount to build the damn thing on a good handgun and outperform a rope 100% of the time and with much faster results. If we're talking retribution let's not be pussies about it.

Bullet is an honorable death, rope is for nefarious crimes and it saves ammo plus it`s quite painful if a short rope/no trapdoor is used.

If you take the time to build a gallows...and then start hanging folks, it's hard to claim self-defense. What if you saw your neighbor building a gallows?

I wonder why beheading never really caught on in the US? ???

For drama and pizzazz, beheading has it over all the other choices.

Especially when the head is allowed to roll down into the audience.
