Wow this is some find ! It was sent to us from Matteo Ianneo in Italy. Bravo .Sure looks like a face to me .The coordinates, Latitude 33°12'29.82"N, Longitude 12°55'51.21"W, are confirmed and are found in the Google map of Mars below.

Forty-six year old Ianneo says he is passionate about the riddles of Mars. He is from from the Puglia Region and the town of Cerignola (FG)

Ianneo says he discovered the new face on Mars by examining pictures sent back to Earth from an ESA probe orbiting the Red Planet and worked into Google's map of Mars. He presents the photos below. He is unsure if the photos are optical illusions or a real sculptured face but feels the images will never-the-less cause a sensation around the world.

I once saw a cloud formation that looked just like Jennifer Lopez's ass but I did not question whether it was a sculptured ass. Nevertheless, it caused a sensation in my pants.

The human brains has a couple things working for it that, in some cases, work against it. One is the fasci formi. That is, the face recognizer, the part of the brain that deciphers faces as being human and categorizing them as belonging to or being similar to a personality stored elsewhere in the brain. The other parts have names but they all have some manner of pattern recognition. Watch the "snow" on a television tuned to a non-existent station and your brain will begin to find all sorts of images in there. It's what the brain does.

It looks like a face, no? You're like the old scientist that accidentally makes a discovery, but then throws away the results because they're the wrong result. Any type of discovery is heavily dependent on the ability to see patterns. And perhaps the key to staying in the world of illusions is the ability to not see patterns.

Hmm well I see you are looking at this objectively then right, because it is not a perfect depiction of a human it therefore cannot be artificial, even though this is on another planet. If this were artificial, would you expect this to be exactly human.

I am a geologist and I have studied satellite photos for decades and I would say that this is quite an anomaly.
You would have to do more than just "see a face" but would need to measure the proportional analogies toward this possibly being natural or artificial and calculate the odds of that happening. In this case I would take a stab and say that this does deserve some attention and I would imagine it shall get it eventually.

And to all those that dismiss this possibly being artificial, simply out of hand because this gets in the way of your preconceived dogmas about what you have been told to believe rather than to think for yourself, then your science truly is more a religion than science.
