73.10 right now. Maybe this is the reason for the forged birth certificate distraction?

Cheer up Ximmy, the best things in life do not have a dollar attached to them. Nature, great mountains and forests, the ocean, sunrises, good friends. You can't put a dollar price on those...the FED, let them drown in their greed and corruption.

I thought we had a track the dollar plunge thread, but maybe it was just on the old board.

I think time to order some more dehydrated food.

Just busted 73. That's one sorry looking chart. Usually when something starts to look this ugly, something turns it around.

I have a hunch that in the next few weeks, when everyone least expects it, the Fed's gonna step in and give the stock market a scare (i.e. sell a bunch of securities that they have purchased as part of their plunge protection process) so that there will be a run to Treasuries and to the US Dollar. This will serve two purposes:

1) It will give the pretense of dollar strength
2) It will give them an excuse for QE3

No "Q" can save the US, not even "Q" from "James Bond".

I am very tempted to get rid of most of my dollars but the sheeps only know and or will take the same.

The price of precious metals were pretty much inverse of this chart yesterday. The Bernank gave his press time during the dollar drop/PM surge.

My memory may be faulty, but it seems I remember it closing around 72 back in '08.

The low was 70.6 in March 2008. For decades, the low had been around 80, and was tested about a half dozen times from 1978 through 2005. So when it was finally broken during the collapse of Lehman Brothers in 2007, it was a big deal. If 70 gets broken here, it will be a huge deal. I don't think they're going to let that happen this quickly.

the US $ got as low as 93 cents Canadian in 2008, when silver was at its $20 peak then.

right now it's about 95 cents Canadian. the Can$ spot price is $46.09 with the US$ price @ $48.48.
