We are trying to figure out what date code indicates a manufacture before March 11. To give us an idea of what milk is Radiation Free.

I was wondering, for the people here who bought evaporated milk in January February March 2011,2 questions -

* when did you buy the milk ?

* what is the date code ?

This is a picture of milk I bought last week, the week ending Good Friday, 2011 -

The one on the left is Carnation. The one on the right is Great Value Evap. Milk.

I know those date codes, with the time stamp, mean something about time of manufacture ! Just trying to figure out what ???

If you go to the manufacturer's website, they should indicate their coding methods. Typically it will tell you which plant it came from, the lot/batch, time processed etc.

If not, email or call their customer service for your info.

thanks !

i tried that on both the Carnation/Nestle website, and also on Walmart.

my enthusiasm for pre-March 11 products is growing.

i'm thinking about buying bagged steer manure to compost with, because i didn't act quickly enough to order the "10 cubic yards for $100" deal in the newspaper, and at this point my guess is, most of the fresh manure comes from horses & cows that ate radiation-rain-fed grass.

not that i'm planning on mixing the milk with the manure ... :o
