Barbara Lee, 45, and Marco Ibanez, 19, were arrested after the stabbing.

Thug mistakes sign language for gang signs

A group of deaf friends were stabbed at a bar in Florida after a woman mistook their sign language for gang signs.

Alfred Stewart, 31, was partying at the Ocean's Eleven Lounge in Hallendale Beach, Fla., with some friends who were also deaf on Saturday night when the group's signing caught the eye of gang-banger Barbara Lee.

The 45-year-old Lee though the group was throwing gang signs at her, and responded by flashing gang signs back at them, cops said.

The group motioned for her to leave them alone.

Eventually, Lee left the bar but returned with two members of her crew, 19-year-old Marco Ibanez and a 17-year-old who was not identified, cops said.

Ibanez allegedly pulled a knife and began stabbing Stewart and his friends.

Now see, situations such as this would just down right be inconceivable where there's an armed citizenry composing a society which embraces the judicious use of deadly force. It just wouldn't happen, period.

This is the expected result when the citizenry gives up their guns (and then turns around and asks for the 'privilege' to bear their gun of choice) and naively thinks the(ir nanny) state is going to extend any protection to them or their property anyhow, anyway.

The group was not polite enough.

They should have noticed the signs.

Hey Book, where'd ya go?? I was hoping for some sort of snappy, sardonic retort. I've very disappointed in you, you let your own thread slide off onto the 2nd page.

I've never really understood the idea of gang signs.

I DO get the idea that if somebody you don't like is in your presence, you might resort to violence. I don't necessarily agree with it, but I get it.

What I don't get is how you could be fine with somebody's presence until they make a certain hand gesture, and then that's grounds to kill them.

My sympathies to the defense lawyer: his opening statement should be a dousy. ;D

I could type a 'certain' 3 or 4 words to you here and get banned.

Agreed, but you would be hard pressed to find a certain 3 or 4 words in real life that would make me bring knives out.

Hey Book! You keep letting this thread of yours slide onto the 2nd page.

YOU posted the OP shining light on the problem, I wanna hear what solution(s) YOU propose for dealing with the problem (if not discuss how things devolved to this level). WHERE ARE YOU?!?!?!

Just following bosses orders. Happens all the time. Just be thankful the psychopath who controls you (if one does) is more productive than that crack addict. The person who did the stabbing was her soldier and not even around when the signs were crossed.

Book, somehow you keep missing this thread even though I keep bringing it back up to the top. What's up with that?? ??? So here's another shot at getting you to respond to your own thread.

midnight rambler, perhaps you think Book is disrespecting you with his lack of response. You'd better do something about it.

Oh, first of all it really doesn't make much difference to me, I'm simply very interested to hear Book's comments on the subject he brought up. He exposes us to the problem and then has no input on either how we got to where we are and what would be the most positive, permanent solutions to that sort of problem. I have a suspicion of why he won't express what he really thinks about this incident and the true scope of the problem as highlighted by this particular incident, but before I relate my perception of the matter I would like to first hear what all Book has to say on the OP.

Secondly I'm merely doing what Book does - amusing myself and others, and not at all being serious.

Last chance to set the direction of your own thread Book. It's been over 72 hours since you posted the OP.

What do you have to say about the OP??
