This is desperation on a level I've never seen! They can only do this so many times though, so every delay they give us is another day to buy below $50.

More Volume and Volatility for Silver ETFs on Bin Laden, Margin Hike

Silver exchange traded funds (ETFs) bounced in late-morning trade, paring some of their earlier losses as investors weighed the impact of the death of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and a margin hike for silver futures.

Still, iShares Silver Trust (NYSEArca: SLV) was down more than 2% at last check. It was once again the ETF volume leader in terms of shares traded.

A leveraged ETF that bets against the metal, ProShares UltraShort Silver (NYSEArca: ZSL), was also active.

Other ETFs that go long silver include ETFS Physical Silver (NYSEArca: SIVR) and PowerShares DB Silver (NYSEArca: DBS).

“This was the second margin increase in the span of one week,” said a U.S.-based fund manager, according to FastMarkets. Comex operator CME Group “is clearly concerned about the recent violent price movements and they’re taking steps to curb speculation.”

This could be their bloody last stand to suppress silver. Once they've done that its to the moon!

Even one of the main ingredient in their currency can't be suppressed like this. So I don't buy it.

Earlier, the ICE once again engaged in the now traditional margin hike of any surging commodity in an attempt to force longs to sell out of speculative margin positions. Only a funny thing happened as a result: instead of killing the price, the price of cotton surged to $1.935, the highest price ever, as apparently those impacted were on the short side, inciting a short covering spree. A retest of the $2 psychological price barrier is now guaranteed and is on next week's docket. But don't worry, a 100% price jump in the key ingredient of clothing in 6 months will not have a margin impact for consumer discretionary companies. None at all. Sarcasm aside, what the take home message here is that exchange margin hikes no longer have an even short-term adverse impact, and in fact are accelerating price gains to the upside.

Wow it was back to 47 before they hiked the margin again. Missed quite a bit when I was at work today. This really smacks of desperation.

Here is the message posting I tried to post on yahoo GPL, SWL and EXK board. As soon as it got posted, it is deleted. Why? Take a last stand silver investor. It is do or die. We will make them pay. I have attched a snapshot of my complaints to Yahoo why they are involved in the suppression.

Suppression is built into the cake; that's the way the bankers have set up the system, but it can't last forever. Think of it this way, eventually the paper silver will be outed, and eventually the physical metal will be the main driver of price. It will happen, it's inevitable. Until then, take every suppression and manipulation as one more opportunity to buy more physical. You will be right in the end, just be patient and enjoy the ride.
