fate has been smiling on me lately.
my local grocery chain is getting rid of all of their organic stuff. amy's brand, a few others. everyday they have a shopping cart ful of new stuff that has been marked down. today's haul included 8 boxes of organic hush puppy mix, 6 bottles of amy's salad dressings, and 3 boxes of amy's organic chicken pasta mix. each box was priced at $0.50.
i spoke with the grocery manager (i go to church with him), he said that high priced organics are not selling "at all" in this economy, and so they are dumping them to make shelf space for loss leaders ($.99 ketscup, $.99 boxes of pasta, etc).
might want to check out your local, small town grocery, this could be going in your neck of the woods as well.
edit: i guess i counted wrong, 11 bottles of amy's products.
