Yesterday I hit up the Denver Coin Expo, the state's largest semi-annual coin show. This was an incredible show, the best I've ever been to. It was crowded, the money was flowing, and the prices were great! As far as gold goes, there was plenty of numismatic and bullion available; the best price on bullion I found were some 1/4-oz gold AGEs for $400 each, and the best numismatic deal I saw were some pre-33 $10 gold Indians for $810. Silver was plentiful; the lowest posted price for silver was a bin of generic 1-oz rounds for spot + $1.50, but at one table I bargained to get some silver below spot! It cost $3 to get in, and with your ticket you got the latest national parks quarter in mint sealed plastic, and there were door prizes given away each hour. Here's some of what I picked up:

Silver bars ranging from one to five ounces:

1792 Silver Disme re-strike on 1/2 oz 999 fine silver - this coin is where my sig comes from:

Ha ha, well I've been saving up for this show for a while. You know, $2 grand doesn't get you as much as it used to.

MMMM my favorite coin. I remember paying "a lot" ($400) for them not all that long ago...

Nice. Kinda makes my day look silly.

I only scored a 1964 Kenedy half for $8. It does have some nice blue toning.

It's surprisingly heavy in the hand, and it's amazing to think that this coin changed hands and circulated over 1000 years ago. Just thinking about the people who held this very coin that I now hold is simply amazing.

I've been checking ebay and I can't find one like it for less than $550-$600, so I'm really happy with the good deal I got on this one.

I was watching stellaconcepts a while back and he was showing an 1857 gold piece... amazing.
These old coins are a great alternative way to collect gold...

Thanks for the coin show report Madfranks. I love going to coin shows. Finding very good deals is a very good reason to go to coin shows. Congrats on getting silver for below spot. :)

It really is, gold and silver are the rock of strength in our plastic electronic throw away replaceable society.

We ought to write a screen play, "the life of a coin" and follow it change hands over 1000 years. You hold history, right there, in your hands..Madfranks. Simply amazing, and that coin will be around for another 1000 years.

I recently bought an old sterling silver mug, more like a large coffee cup. It's got to be 200 years old, I drink coffee out of it in the morning cooking bacon egg breakfasts. I think of the men that drank from that same cup. It's still here, in my hand, for me to enjoy now.

Life is great, congrats on that coin. May you go with the history of it, in your hands for now.
