I don't watch much commercial TV because... well it's got commercials. Anyway I was unfortunate so see some ads on the weekend.

I saw this one and well.... I think it's pretty obvious what angles are being pushed here:

What do you think? They are clearly driving at herd think here.

These sort of ads have been out for a few years now - the paywave part is new but the ad where everything is going great with musical accompaniment and then "some weirdo pays cash" stops the music, has been played out in a number of commercials.

Of course, that the other people don't actually HAVE enough cash to pay for their meal and have to charge it, is not something VISA wants you to notice.

The message is clear - life goes soooo much more smoothly when humans act like unthinking mindless automatons obediently and unquestioningly moving in a herd. Right Book?

I agree. The not so subtle subconscious message is that cash is slow and embarrassing and you don't want to end up in that situation.

Sickening.

It's saying to me people that use cash are stupid, but what I actually saw was one smart person amongst a lineup of blissfully ignorant people.

Businesses are charged more to use plastic by the banks, and those extra costs are passed along to the customer. Proof positive are places that charge 3% cash discount over plastic.

This should be really great for credit card fraud, no signature, or signature verification required, just swipe and run.

Like credit card fraud is not bad enough already :oo-->

Like I keep on saying......someday all that you earn will go into a Debit-Credit card and everything that you spend will also come from there...........however........they are now also coming from a different angle, your phone.....just swipe your phone infront of the machine.

Looks to me like the rest of those people have never seen cash :'(

They like to get all blood orgy feeding frenzy in their own commercials. You think Strauss Kahn likes to get freaky...try checking out the local Holiday Inn at a VISA conference. ;D

how about they do one for when the reader goes down or malfunctions. I was in line an extra 3 or 4 minutes at the store yesterday while 3 employees tried to "trouble shoot" though i'm pretty sure they didnt have any clue what they were doing

all the while i had exact cash in hand ready to pay

Was thinking the same thing Book. Pretty soon there will be commercials where the guy holding up the line is the one fumbling for his card while everyone else speeds through by swiping their hand.

Mark of the beast brought to you by VISA.

Masonic Paper Notes backed by the same digital voodoo the plastic card is. What is the difference?
If your using either one your still playing "their" game.

First thing that came to my mind "Note :my mind thinks outside the box a lot."
Was its like a remake of a Twilight Zone episode with a twist ,in this story the ugly is cash . http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Eye_of_the_Beholder

Second thought was I bet that Cash Man felt like someone just yelled witch and pointed at him during the Salem Witch Trials. Is it getting hot in here ?

In my experience it's always the douche bags with the cards who don't know how to swipe their card that slows the line down. How many times has the person in front of you swiped the wrong side of the card, hit the wrong button on the machine, or entered a wrong PIN? Cash is always faster.
