i always wanted to make a water source using condensation. i just didn't know what it was called or what the past history was.

That is fascinating, indeed. I wonder if you could build one with modern roof insulation, rather than straw. This could be a great way to collect water, and a fun project too. You could even stock it with fish, get the fish repopulating, you'd have water and food as well.
