View Full Version : ADL blasts Foreskin Man comic book's 'anti-Semitic' images on circumcision

Actually, the title of the article says Jewish "groups," but in the article itself it only mentions one group, the ADL. :oo-->

As far as I'm concerned, the portrayal of any adult who performs infant genital mutilation, whether doctor or mohel, as evil IS an accurate portrayal.

Jewish groups blast 'Foreskin Man' comic book's 'overly anti-Semitic' images on circumcision (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2011/06/04/2011-06-04_jewish_groups_blast_foreskin_man_comic_books_ov erly_antisemitic_images_on_circum.html#ixzz1OVbMTn Sx)

A politically motivated comic book pitting a blond superhero called "Foreskin Man" against a sinister-looking "Monster Mohel" is causing a serious flap in California.

The colorful series was created by the "intactivist" group MGMBill.org as part of its campaign to ban circumcision through ballot initiatives.

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is blasting it as overtly anti-Semitic.

"'Foreskin Man,' with its grotesque anti-Semitic imagery and themes, reaches a new low and is disrespectful and deeply offensive," Nancy J. Appel, ADL Associate Regional Director, said in a statement Friday.

The online series portrays a menacing-looking mohel - someone specially trained to perform the traditional Jewish circumcision ceremony - waving bloody scissors over a screaming baby laid out on a pool table.

Appel said the imagery invokes the "age-old anti-Semitic canards" such as the blood libel, the accusation that Jews ritually murder Christian children.

Matthew Hess, the president of MGMBill and the series creator, did not immediately return an email seeking comment.

His San Diego-based group has an anti-circumcision measure on the ballot in San Francisco's next election in November.

"We would have hoped those backing the anti-circumcision effort in San Francisco would know better than to use this type of anti-Semitic imagery to advance their cause," Appel said.

"No matter what one's personal opinions of male circumcision, it is irresponsible to use stereotypical caricatures of religious Jews to promote the anti-circumcision agenda.

Any relation to Rudolph Hess?

Hmmm! Good question. I guess that would explain some of the imagery. ;)

Didn't you know? They use it to make anti-wrinkle skin creams and other rejuvenating products, I'm sure for a wonderfully spiritual profit.

Foreskin-based medical and consumer products (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foreskin#Foreskin-based_medical_and_consumer_products)

Foreskins obtained from circumcision procedures are frequently used by biochemical and micro-anatomical researchers to study the structure and proteins of human skin. In particular, foreskins obtained from newborns have been found to be useful in the manufacturing of more human skin.[53]

Human growth factors derived from newborns' foreskins are used to make a commercial anti-wrinkle skin cream, TNS Recovery Complex.[54]

Foreskins of babies are also used for skin graft tissue,[55][56][57] and for β-interferon-based drugs.[58]

Foreskin fibroblasts have been used in biomedical research.[59]

TNS Recovery Complex (http://www.skinmedica.com/faqs)'s main ingredient is human fibroblast tissue (I guess this is the euphemism they've come up with, as baby foreskins doesn't have quite the same scientific ring to it):

Q: What is TNS?
A: A mixture of growth factors, cytokines, antioxidants and matrix proteins.

Q: What are growth factors?
A: Growth factors are proteins that affect the growth and the activity of cells. Growth factors are inherent in our bodies and play a crucial role in maintaining healthy skin.

Q: Why does the TNS Recovery Complex have a bit of an unusual scent?
A: TNS Recovery Complex has a 93.6% concentration of TNS which is a very high concentration of protein. :sicko

Ancient women prized smegma for it's anti-aging anti-wrinkling effects when applied to the face. Of course, for thousands of years women had to use the 'natural' applicator to apply the smegma. It wasn't until 1814 when an enterprising entrepreneur Otto Pud collected and bottled a face cream for women, the main ingredient of which was bull smegma.

Foreskin Face Cream and Other Beauty Products of the Future (http://www.alternet.org/environment/47421)

The flesh trade isn't as elusive as people might think. Like porn, human body parts are easily available online for the right price. The Coriell Institute is only one of dozens of websites that offer foreskin fibroblast for sale. On its website, I put a foreskin fibroblast in a shopping cart and called its office, where a perky customer representative informed me that I can buy the flakes for a cost of $85.00 -- plus shipping and handling. In the end, I didn't buy, but it surprised me to find out how easily I could have.

That's because foreskin fibroblasts are big business. A fibroblast is a piece of human skin that is used as a culture to grow other skin or cells -- like human yogurt kits. Human foreskin fibroblast is used in all kinds of medical procedures from growing skin for burn victims and for eyelid replacement, to growing skin for those with diabetic ulcers (who need replacement skin to cover ulcers that won't heal), to making creams and collagens in the cosmetics industry (yes, the product that is injected into puffy movie-starlet lips).

One foreskin can be used for decades to produce miles of skin and generate as much as $100,000 -- that's not the fee from a one-time sale, but the fees from the fibroblasts that are created from those original skin cells.

One of the most publicized examples of the foreskin-for-sale trend involves a skin cream that has been promoted by none other than Oprah Winfrey. SkinMedica, a face cream, which costs over $100 for a 0.63-oz. bottle, is used by many high-profile celebrities (such as Winfrey and Barbara Walters) as an alternative to cosmetic surgery.

I didn't realize they were that profitable! In that case, I wouldn't be surprised if this um, "industry" pushes back against the San Francisco circumcision ban with a lot of editorials like the one about the Foreskin Man comics.

The L.A. Times covered this comic book story, and I noticed in one of the comments someone said this ban removes a parent's right to choose medical procedures for their children. Of course there was no mention of an infant's right to be physically intact and not mutilated in his most sensitive parts!

A product for women who don't have a man around to receive...fresh...applications for their faces? :D

But I think it's okay to get smegma from an adult man (given with his free will, of course).

you know, i was thinking that they put a huge image file on the Internet, bad web design.

but it's only a 150 kB file - that's NOTHING for a server.

therefore, i conclude - the ADL & the Jewish Internet Defense League, et al, are doing a mini-DOS on the website. they are driving up the bandwidth costs of the folks behind foreskinman.com.

that's the only logical explanation - either that or it's SUPER popular (which i doubt), or it's on a server with REAL slow speed ... possible but doubtful.

anyway, i downloaded it & re-uploaded it, the ADL can now try & crash tinypic.com if this image upsets them so much -

Has anyone else thought this, but ..............Foreskin Man? Who would think that up? I know if I was a pre-teen [like I was in the 70's] he wouldn't be my super-hero.

true. it's not like Flash or Ironman or Archie.

there's some folks that want to make male circumcision not a standard procedure, this is their comic book.
