View Full Version : No Trespassing Sign that Works

I got a copy of this from one of my neighbors. He was getting hassled by the county for doing something on his property, I think panning for gold and possibly for diverting a creek to facilitate his gold-panning.
So he put up this sign, and IT WORKED !

It's possible the county just decided that what he was doing was small potatoes, and to go hassle somebody that was easier to hassle.
Does anybody know anything about USC Title 18, Section 241 ?
I found these citations -
http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/investigate/civilrights/federal-statutes
http://trac.syr.edu/laws/18/18USC00241.html
http://codes.lp.findlaw.com/uscode/18/I/13/241
As far as I can tell, this sign actually scares the cops - that's the main thing.

Panning for gold and possibly diverting a creek? Bill of Rights on door? Awesome neighbor!

A scared cop is an irrational cop.

OK - I uploaded it to MSN Skydrive.
Who knew Bill Gates could be so helpful ? :-)
It's not the best reproduction - there is an optical effect where it's narrower at the top & bottom. So I thought it looked better with a bit of wood around it, like a frame.
I have a scanner that makes great *.pdf's ... but I had to send it back to the North Pole for fixing.
So I'll upload a smaller file size, better image quality when I get that fixed.
I hope I didn't overstep any bounds - now I'm wondering if this is his original work. But he does make copies of it and give them to neighbors.
Guy is 83 - his wife is 91. He has No Fear.

The use of the word "intruder" is inappropriate
INTRUDER. One who, on the death of the ancestor, enters on the land, unlawfully, before the heir can enter.

Here's a shot of about 500 feet up my drive---
It works for some people, I've walked down in the AM on a couple of occasions and seen tire tracks where people saw that and turned around.

AAAAWLLLRighty, then...
Gave you the "chance" you asked for, and all you've done with it is troll, troll, and served up a side of troll with troll gravy.
Good luck with the next forum - this one no longer welcomes you.

i like that. effective and, to me, funny.
the sign i posted is oriented towards law enforcement types. your sign is oriented towards general public.
i also like
"Trespassers will be
Composted"
which could be turned into a Haiku -
"Trespassers will be
Composted quite thoroughly -
Blood Meal and Bone Meal."

TomD, good to see you over here more often. And under a name we recognize. I hope more of the good guys from GIM can find the place.

Isn't there a contradiction in invoking the Constitution as supreme law of the land than invoking USC in the same document?
Just wondering out loud.

That's a fair question.
I hope someone answers.

The Constitution being supreme, would trump the USC in case of conflict. If they are not in conflict, I see no problem. Of course tresspassing really should be a state or local violation and the USC shouldn't have anything to say on the subject.
