This isn't surprising to me actually - I always watch ebay for unusual or underpriced bullion, and they have a huge market for gold/silver there. I think it makes sense, but just remember, it is ebay, and there are TONS of frauds there, you must do your due diligence!

I have my own bullion center too, Buddha's Bullion Blowout! This is where you can find generic, unmarked silver coins with no mention of purity for only $5 over spot. I also sell SAE's and Maple's for 69.95 each, but beware I will either take a month to send them or not send them at all and ignore all your emails. Remember, Glenn Beck says to buy Gold and Silver so that you will be protected for 2012. There isn't much time left!
Anyway, it seems that PM's are becoming mainstream little by little, which unsettles me.

That is a good description of ebay, but people who know their stuff and do a little searching are the ones who find the gems on ebay. I've bought sterling silver and other coins for below melt many times on ebay. But for the newbs, ebay is a haven for scammers to take advantage of them.

I've done maybe 30 buys through ebay in the past 5 years, one was an outright scam but I wasn't worried since it was on my credit card. The other 29 were straight up deals with straight up people. You have to use some sense. Selling PM's through ebay would bother me, never done it. All they have to do is say they got an empty box and you're screwed. Since I found out here that there is a website dedicated as a marketplace to buyers and sellers of ebay identities, you can't trust feedback either. Someone could loop through ID after ID pulling the empty box routine for a few thousand bucks a whack and just leave town after a week or two and set up again.
There's only one reason on earth to buy a false ebay ID and that's to screw someone.

Kinda like you see someone selling an oz of silver only to find that it's 500 mils. Or another favorite of mine, someone selling an ounce of german silver. I imagine countless neophytes have been ripped off by these scams.

That is a good point that you made regarding any bar that is stamped "mills" anywhere on the bar. I see a lot of "1 troy oz 100 mills .999 silver" silver plated bars on ebay when I look for silver art bars to bid on. It is amazing to me that some ebay buyers are bidding on these thinking that they are getting a great deal on a 1-oz .999 pure silver bar. I suspect that they 1.) Do not know what 100 mills means or 2.) They are too quick to place a bid and do not read the description of the auction. I am seeing an increase in the number of these "1 Troy oz 100 Mills" bar auctions on ebay, however, I am also seeing an increase in a lot of these auctions ending without a single bid which is good IMO.

How thoughtful of them to compile a location .....for the collectivist and taxing authorities to go when they need to find a greedy boogeyman to demonize and bring to "justice"
