Is this a Stupid Idea or what...I was just thinking how it may or may not be a great idea to abolish the federal gov't, let every state take care of it's own kah-kah...lol ....you could have a few national "funds" for things like national defense, maybe a few road projects...have one monetary system (whatever that might be), maybe a "pool a/c" for those states with a lower population...otherwise, let each state bare it's own responsibilities AND consequences...governed UNDER the Constitution

How could you trust their CAFR accounting practices? "Gee, we're broke; so no x, y or z for you!" Or when another state wants a neighbor's assets? Texas oil fields, PM mines, water sources, etc.

...I was just throwing out an abstract idea...Eagless....there are a million "gliches" to the idea....in broad abstract though, I was thinking more toward the states being more self-sufficient/responsible......'cause when the crooks go to DC, it seems to me it's a "free for all" and "how much can I get for my constituents" all the while ...."Rome IS Burning"
*I think you're referring to "kaffir" GoD....lol

The problem can be fixed without abolishing the federal government. They have lots of legitimate roles that are best served from a national level. The corruption is the problem.
If we're going to have this discussion, we really need to identify what can best be served by national oversight. You named military, interstate highways, and monetary system. Others would be the National Airspace System and National Weather Service. Even if you want to privatize large parts of these these functions, they require national oversight for coordination and procedures, and for overwhelming startup resources.

Well it seemed to me Sparky, when the crooks GO to DC, the "big cookie jar" mentality takes over, they wanna get their hand in the DC cookie jar and pull out as much as they can....I was thinking IF states themselves were in control of much more, they wouldn't have a big central cookie jar to go to....and no, I don't think you could abolish the federal gov't totally, like you said there are certain things that would be easier handled on a national level....sure the corruption is the fly in the ointment, but that's mankind...he will Always be corrupt ...OK....so it was a Pipe dream....lol

All that we have to do is to put new people incharged of the government.........like Ron Paul.

Competition between states was in the original design. If people didn't like the way things were run in one state, they could easily move to another. Lincoln pretty much abolished that I think.

The answer is pretty simple. Make the job of being an elected official an unpaid one. No renumeration. A 100% Honourable role. No kick backs, backhands, under hands, under the table payments.
