doing some prep rotation this morning. boxing up old stuff that expires in a month or 2 and sending it off to the food pantry.

i'm looking at the ingredients of some of the old stuff i bought a few years back, and soy seems to be in everything.

everything.

potato flakes, pasta mixes, cereal bars, etc. why do you need soy in potato flakes?

i don't know much about soy, but if it's in everything, i figure it's bad.

Because its a cheap flavorless filler. Big corporations love it since of this. The problem is it kills your thyroid and SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS!!! This is one of the significant reasons for the obesity epidemic, along with all the people eating too much grains/breads (which you shouldn't eat to begin with either.)

Only fermented soy is remotely safe (soy sauce, miso, stinky tofu.)

Soy also contains phyto-estrogens that wreak havoc on both male and female endocrine systems. One of the things that turns off testosterone production in men is elevated estrogen. What do you think eating lots of soy does?

I don't buy products that contain soy.

100% whole wheat bread even has it, unless you are careful and look over the ingredients - of course, try finding a bread that doesn't contain either HF corn syrup and/or bromine laden flour.

There are worse things in bread than soy. Read about gluten: http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2010/09/19/paleo-diet-solution/

My girlfriend and I were just having a conversation related to this last night. We noted that many people, (my parents generation) think they are eating similar to the way they were 20-30 years ago but they aren't. Many of the products are the same, ranch dressing, mayo, bread etc but they never noticed the ingredients have changed. Instead of sunflower or canola oil it is now GM soy oil, or GM canola oil or the package might just say vegetable oil which is likely GM soy oil. Plus there are also all the flavor enhancers and colors and preservatives. Mayo that might have had 5-6 ingredients now has 30.

Then people can't figure out why they are getting sick.

People really need to educate themselves about all this crap.

The Soy Growers Association of America said that soy was good for you and healthier then animal derived protein. I don't know why they would lie to me.

Also, there was an Ad of the Teevee that said that HFCS was fine in moderation and is the same as sugar. The Ad was sponsered by the Corn Growers Conglomeration surely a large organization like that has to tell the truth....right? right? I fail to see why they would lie or be biased on this issue...

another reason why you will find soy y in lots of product is because it is heavily subsidized at the corporate level

There have been many studies which show animals won't eat GM feed compared to non-GM feed when they have a choice. There havent been any human studies on GM food. GMO is a depopulation tool by the elites.
