They are shipping those to California for when the proles start shooting each other.
Yep it's coming, guaranteed!

I love how its got the stand off armor that is designed to stop RPG attacks. Thats the "cage" looking stuff around the back and the port holes.

Something you'd only see on military vehicles in war zones, until now I guess.

The name IS fitting though, Im sure it is a police rescue vehicle, for when they have to "rescue" the police officers from some pot smokers living room..................

It's stated very clearly on the side what intended use is - it's for rescuing the po-po caught behind 'enemy' lines.

That is a total mindfuck and sick. Wonder when they are going to mount the chain guns and twin .50's.

It's says homeland security on the side.
I wonder what the other words are below it that's blocked out?

How would you stop something like that?
Maybe borrow one of these and flip that bastard over?

The smaller versions of these are about $250K each (no reactive armor) and Lancaster and York County, PA both got one. The breathless local newspaper article on it did eventually admit that they didn't actually need it and had not used it once in the year they got it.

The local SWAT jackboots interviewed all agreed it was a great thing to have however, especially since DHS paid for it with a cash grant ... I bet if you went over the thing with a blacklight you would see evidence of "residue" the SWAT guys spooged out involuntarily as they thought of how awesome they would look coming down on a dirtbag with it....

That machine is intended to be used against the people, not for them.

you're on the right track TA with the "gas & oil" ..except they should be mixed together in a glass container with a lit rag and thrown against the Tires....get all 4 Tires involved and you'll have a "Beirut Bar-B-Q" ...lol

Look at the cylindrical thing by the rear wheels, that is a heavy rubber balloon that is used for the air suspension ... easy to penetrate, probably even with an arrow or anything .25 or above in caliber ... if the suspension goes it gets really rough riding...

It appears to me that this beast only has that one rear hatch on it and no other means of egress. There's apparently no access hatch or door for the driver that's visible.

1 word THERMITE!!!

Dogman
23rd June 2011, 05:57 PM
Lot's of guessing about ways to disable it.

Now think, it is a military troop combat vehicle. It will a very tough undercarriage, and buku sorts of protection under there to make sure it can keep on trucking.

IMO

My job in the military was electronic warfare specialist. But their electronics are protected. However ALL armor has a weakness, and that weakness is heat. No armor can stop thermite. I've see it first hand while in the military. A thermite gernade melted tank armor. It looked like that section that took the hit was placed in a microwave oven and it just melted like plastic.

I agree, My comments were more directed at some of the ideals posted. Thermite would be effective if you can get it to the skin of the vehicle as h/e's. But in here in America, h/e's are sort of hard to come by. I have made thermite in the past playing around to see how easy it is to do, and it is.

Was just saying!

I've made Aluminum and Copper thermite. Definitely fun to play around with. I've read that Chromium thermite gets the hottest but have never made it myself. There are ways to make a grenade out of it "homestyle" so that it goes everywhere. Nasty stuff it is. Once it goes no putting it out until it burns itself out.

Yea

Anything that produces a lot of gas fast , in a strong closed container would do the trick.

At least on your own property you could construct a strategic perimeter of caltrops - they are basically large, four-spiked concrete stars weighing about two thousand pounds each. You put enough of those babies around your perimeter and no way that thing's coming in.

These worked well in WWII, would think they'd work the same against newer armor.

People over think tactics.

Quickest way to disable a vehicle like that is to take away it's eyes, mason jars full of paint or old crankcase oil will remove vision pretty effectively.

All the armor in the world does no good if it can't be negotiated around.

If you are worried about getting close enough to toss mason jars, a funnelator will launch balloons full of paint well over a block and a simple garden sprayer will fill balloons

I'm betting that bad boy has thermals. So paint won't do much good unless it's heated first. :-D

Your run of the mill power washer pumps old crankcase oil or tranny fluid as just as well as it does water. And so long as you keep the oil off yourself it makes a dandy flamethrower.

that thing is so heavy, something as simple as a mud-pit would stop it

Dogman
23rd June 2011, 08:07 PM
True, but thermals don't know the difference between good guy or bad guy heat signatures so if they want to start blasting every heat signature they see, let them.

This came out in 2006, wonder what they are using now?

Army To Evaluate Thermal Beacon Alternative IFF Technology

TEL AVIV, Israel--Thermal Beacon, an Israeli company specializing in innovative thermal Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) emitters, is preparing for an Army evaluation of its technology in the United States.
"As we speak, a demonstration unit is on its way to Ft. Belvior, Va.," Avi Peer, Thermal Beacon's CEO, told Defense Daily yesterday. "The evaluation is scheduled to last a minimum of 30 days."
The company's technology exploits existing thermal vision systems and adds an identification code that signals warfighters belonging to 'own forces.'
