No way. You can only renounce in a foreign country, not inside the U.S. and certainly not by mail in the U.S. - http://travel.state.gov/law/citizenship/citizenship_776.html

I've renounced my citizenship and have gotten rid of my SS# and drivers license. Better yet, I've used a federal agency to renounce my citizenship. Now I am Buddha, no more, no less.

You were that before all of those quasi contracts. Just a man with God given/natural rights, or a Travolta calls it a bum.
I guess all the natives who were here before Columbus discovered this land were bums as well,no residence, legal tender, and no job/employment.

And this guy has something to say as well.
"I see some confusion even here about renouncing US citizenship. US citizenship only means that you are a citizen of the District of Columbia. So no one can prevent you from exiting or entering your particular State or the united States of America. The United States refers only to The District of Columbia. You do not need a Visa to reenter your own Country. Giving up your US citizenship simply means you are no longer willing to be a slave of the District of Columbia, period. Don't the stamps on the envelope become evidence of willingness into a binding agreement?

You might want to use certificated mail instead of certified mail if that is what you are talking about?
