Here ya go, seems like Big Daddy Rhaum is fulfilling a campaign promise to run a transparent gov't so he's listed ALL Chicago city workers salaries.....

Overall, the salaries seem reasonable. I'll guess that Californika's are double on average.

You're jiving us! Reasonable? A "Water Rate Taker" pulls in $81k, a "coordinator of community services" pulling in $70k, a "truck driver" making $70k. These are all jobs that uneducated high school dropouts take, and such unskilled work shouldn't pay out this much money. In the private sector a simple unskilled labor like this would pay minimum wage.

Yo holmes! My momma didn't raise no jive turkey! Listen up blood: minimum wage ain't gonna buy you no fried chicken and grape soda, you dig?;D

Seriously, given the cost of living in a big city like Chicago, these salaries aren't unreasonable. That's not to say that government isn't bloated with an excess of 'make-work' jobs - it is and that is the real problem. I'd wager that government payrolls could be cut in half if government workers had to match the productivity per worker in the private sector.

Miniumum wage? Who could live on that except a unmarried kid living at home with mom and dad?

If people are hating on these salaries, it's only because they themselves are being shorthanded.

It's tough enough to live the "American Dream" on those wages listed, never mind trying to live the dream on less.

The big difference is the pension after 20yrs. you'll never find those anymore in the private sector.

Hey, those political cronies need to have the dough for the campaign contributions. One big circle jerk.
