I guess they have to keep something in the headlines to keep the sheep scared.

I wonder if they will start checking strip joints with full screening now. ;D

TSA warns of possible airline threat involving implanted bombs (http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-pn-tsa-implants-20110706,0,7473541.story)

The government has warned airlines that terrorists are considering surgically implanting explosives into people in an attempt to circumvent screening procedures, according to U.S. officials.

There is no indication of an immediate plot, but the new information could lead to additional screening procedures at the nation’s airports. Existing scanners would not necessarily detect bombs implanted under a person’s skin, experts said.

While the information suggests such a threat would come from overseas rather than domestic groups, federal officials are ordering precautions both in the U.S. and abroad, the official said.

The idea of surgically implanting bombs has been examined by intelligence agencies in the past, but new information has suggested that terrorist groups are seriously considering the technique, officials said.

A spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration, Nicholas Kimball, said that passengers flying to the United States are likely to face additional screening measures.

"These measures are designed to be unpredictable, so passengers should not expect to see the same activity at every international airport," Kimball said. "Measures may include interaction with passengers, in addition to the use of other screening methods such as pat-downs and the use of enhanced tools and technologies."

Existing scanners cannot detect certain explosive materials like PETN under the skin. They would have to rely on explosive trace detection swabs to detect bombs under the skin, and those are only conducted on a fraction of the passengers.

Aw shit!

Then these must not be tactical, but strategic weapons of mass destruction.

How fucking ridiculous. Instead of seeking out the root cause of any supposed 'terra-ist' activity the rubes are feed complete lines of bullshit which they lap up.

Odds are any serious hurt the average American can expect coming their way will be from some state actor and not some 'jihadist' on the other side of the world.

They just ran a story of this on CNN.

The tsa must be drooling at the thought of finding another way to fuck with people/women. I can see it now, all well endowed woman need to be screened before they can fly, and soon trains will be in the mix.

Edit:

Maybe the women that think tan's look sexy if they travel are going to have to rethink what they do. Having a tan may backfire now. Dark skin = middle eastern look. And get them pulled out of line for special treatment!

It's not enough to be felt up...
The American traveler must be naked and felt up...

I am waiting for the warning that we need to be afraid of "Penile Implant" bombs. ;D

Be afraid, Be very afraid!

Edit:

That will give a total new meaning to the term "Blowing his load" ;D

The safest thing would be for every passenger to have to strip down naked, be blindfolded and be placed in seats with built in restraints for their arms, legs and neck until the flight is over.

The problem is that this information can and will be used to justify internal body searches (i.e. cavity searches) over and above full body patdowns. There is no limit to what the TSA goons can do and they don't need probable cause. So, you the flying passenger have zero privacy, zero rights and zero dignity. You are no different than cattle being inspected for shipment to the slaughter house or a suspected drug mule. Our rights as citizens have just hit bottom - it is sickening.

Agree!

It does sound like this is a creditable possibility. I may be wrong but I do think there is a line that the traveling public will not cross. And we are getting close to it.

The tsa solution will probably be some kind of x-ray machine that show different density's, and flag anything that does not match the density's of known implant materials.

Who in the hell knows?----Insert shrugging icon here!

This story is complete bullshit. Is there anybody who can't see that it is one of these 'booga-boogas' to scare everybody. What better way to scare people into allowing the TSA to do full body cavity searches, or to sell the TSA some product that 'detects' explosives in people's bodies, but there is no market for it, so now they are creating a market for it. Who will be the next Michael Chertoff? Or is it Chertoff himself that is trying to create a market for a product he is selling?

It's a fraud. A scam. And those of us who can see right through it know that there isn't much we can do about it--because the sheeple sure get scared easily, and they don't think straight when they're scared.

By implication you're saying there are times when the rubes think straight. Can you define when those times are?

The daily news cycle never seems short on interview segments where people get asked how they feel about increased security and they reply I suppose it's the price we pay to be safe. That is just one of several examples of what you're talking about. For me the jury is still out whether this is all just an enterprise, a dark plot, or a combination. But whatever it is, it isn't protection and I agree with your assertion it's all horse shit at our expense for the profit of others.

i think it has a lot to do with people being brainwashed into thinking they don't have a choice, they just shrug & say "yeah, it sucks, but whaddya do??" i personally have elected not to use air/rail/bus anymore. i will drive, or walk when i need to get somewhere. no xrays or pat downs for this guy.

It's subjugation with a government seal. It is also the next step in the police state mindset, imho. These tactics will seem like peanuts once they start randomly searching houses for anything out of the ordinary. Dogs would be shot of course.

The media gives air time only to those who think 'Well, if this is what it takes to be safe, I'll go along.' That is all you see in the media. I think the vast majority of people are seething like a pressure cooker about this. Just read posts in this forum. We're all resigned to not resist this bullshit because a few people will say something to justify this kind of outrage, and the media presents it as the dominant thinking on this issue. This is designed to make the people who oppose these measures feel powerless to change anything because they don't control the media so they give up. The only outlet for these people is the internet, and there are so many trolls and limited hangouts, and other agentur operating on the internet to marginalize the vast majority of the people. This is truly despotic rule, by whoever is doing it--the Government/Corporate/Bankster Axis. Our unelected de-facto rulers. The ones who control our communications and our money. The ones who are trying to take away everything from us, including our privacy and our dignity.

We keep falling into this hole of ever increasing totalitarian rule. It's because we are so easily fooled, so gullible, that we believe what the MSM shows us. The government, the media, the banks are all lying to us to maintain the fabric of this illusion of their power over us. It is in our minds, and we need to get rid of that illusion that they are all powerful. They are not. People will stop flying. They will stop going to places where these goons are empowered. The absurd extreme of this trend will be that people will stay ion their houses and not go anywhere until this madness passes.

There is no danger of people blowing us up with explosives hidden inside their bodies. The danger is from a corrupt and deluded government imposing a totalitarian rule on us. They have to inject the anesthetic first--and that is fear. We shouldn't fool ourselves about this.

Are more folks starting to wake up? Some of the most popular comments on yahoo from this article:

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves. -Abraham Lincoln

Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death."

- Adolf Hitler

From a TRUE American: "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny." Thomas Jefferson. (They would probably call him a terrorist today and lock him up.)

There is absolutely no valid information to back up these claims. It's just another distraction trying to keep Americans afraid and not paying attention to other more important things. Like how the government is taking your freedoms and your money.

so when does the general american public finally say enough and do something other than bitch about it on internet forums? i keep hearing about how pissed people are about the TSA, and i don't blame them, but i only hear the very rare situation where someone has actually made a stand, the rest of the time, it's just one big bitchfest.

they talk about boycotting gas stations to protest the high fuel prices, why don't they start picketing outside airports, or boycott flights for even a few days. with the price of air travel, it wouldn't take much to make a point...just sayin.

since the US gov. has basically made it illegal to materially obstruct any policy of the US gov., no matter how immoral, the end result is that it is wise to not widely publicize anything you do that stops the immoral acts of the US gov.

so my guess is, many people are doing things besides bitching. but you will probably never hear about what they might be doing.

just like US citizens in the 1770's didn't telegram King George 3 - or the Rothschild du Jour - to keep them informed about the colonies breaking away from England.

To my knowledge a body cavity bomb has been tried once with mortal and very messy results, for the bomber. The results for the intended target, the Saudi security chief, were very messy indeed but without injury other than being covered with a fine (but stinky) puree de bombier. The bomber had several ounces of plastic explosives up the rectum, no word as to how he lit the fuse. Not that's (was) a dedicated employee!

You wonder if the terrorists did any practice dry runs of the attack. Okay, Ahmed, this is the part where your ass explodes and covers everyone in the room with shit!
