Hours after Casey Anthony (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/topic/crime-law-justice/crimes/criminals/casey-anthony-PECLB004341.topic) was found not guilty of murdering her young daughter, she was reminded that her legal woes are not over.
[/URL] John Morgan (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/topic/sports/john-morgan-PESPT005198.topic), the attorney representing a woman suing Anthony for defamation, filed a subpoena to question the 25-year-old woman late Tuesday.
The two-page subpoena should have been served to Anthony at the Orange County Jail Tuesday or early this morning, an assistant to Morgan confirmed this morning.
A local woman named Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez filed a lawsuit against Anthony in 2008 claiming she was unable to find work and was ostracized after Anthony told her family and investigators that a woman with the same name kidnapped her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.
Investigators briefly questioned Fernandez-Gonzalez, of Kissimmee (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/topic/us/florida/osceola-county/kissimmee-PLGEO100100411040000.topic), but quickly determined she had nothing to do with the case. The baby-sitter Anthony referred to as "Zanny" doesn't exist.
The civil case was put on hold until the conclusion of the criminal trial.
The subpoena demands Anthony to appear at Morgan's office on July 16 at 10 a.m. to be questioned under oath regarding the civil case. The deposition will be recorded, the document states.
Morgan also sent a copy of the subpoena to Charles M. Greene, the attorney who is representing Anthony in the civil matter.
Anthony will be sentenced Thursday morning for the four counts of lying to law enforcement that she was convicted of earlier this week. The misdemeanor charges carry a maximum prison sentence of one year for each count. Anthony has been in jail since October 2008.
