It suggests men deal with infidelity by remaining confused and in struggle instead of confronting it. Further, her husband's lack of action at the first sign of trouble is exactly the behavior complex the system hopes for. How convenient it gets presented as a thriller to rivet people's attention to the message. The religious duality included is just a smokescreen.
