I'm pretty stoked after this one. I've been metal detecting for 5+ years now, and although this isn't my best find of all time, it is my best "post-4th of July" find. Every year, after the 4th of July holiday is over, I always take my metal detector out to the open fields where all the spectators sat a day ago watching the fireworks. The fields are always littered with stuff, mostly pop tabs and bottle caps, but there's always tons of coins to find and sometimes some jewelery. So earlier today I hit a huge field where I knew there were tons of people sitting for the fireworks, and I found a matching .925 sterling Tiffany and Co necklace and bracelet! They weren't even buried in the grass or anything, they were visible enough that it wouldn't have even taken a metal detector to find! I'm surprised they lasted a full week after the event and nobody else had found them, but like I said it was a huge field. It's been rainy the past few days which explains the weathered, tarnished look on the jewelery. They weigh in at a little below three troy ounces, which is a decent silver find! I found them on the Tiffanys website, (http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/item.aspx?sku=13627738&mcat=148204&search_params=s+5-p+31-c+287458-r+101323338-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+-k&cid=287458&fromgrid=1) the necklace alone retails for $370! I will check the Craigslist ads for the next few days to see if there are any lost & found ads looking for missing jewelery that fits this description, otherwise it goes into the stash!

Nice Madfranks! I can only imagine the 'rush' it must feel to find something like that. What detector do you use/recommend? Metal detecting is a hobby I'm very interested in taking up.

Good show Franks, in CA I used to go to "Venice Beach" every weekend......many goodies did I find, specially where the monkeys bars are at.

Nice, but it says please return...are you going to return it? Just kidding.
Why would these say please return?

Probably registered when purchased... they used to have keychain deals that you drop into the mailbox and then it will be shipped to the owners.

So are you returning it to Tiffany's or what?

I'm pretty sure that's just a quaint design, not to be taken seriously. Plus, the Tiffany website says the design is inspired by a Tiffany Key ring from 1969. With no actual ID# or serial# on the jewelery itself, it's not registered to anyone, so what would Tiffany & Co know to do with it other than polish it up and re-sell it?

I'm surprised that whoever lost them weren't already out there looking for them themselves.

If you actually wanted to try to find who lost them, perhaps check the local lost and found ads just to see if someone is looking for them. Wouldn't hurt, but y'know finders-keepers applies too. Choice is yours, and there is certainly no obligation on your part to go out of your way to find their owner.
...but I will say that if my wife/gf lost something like that, I know that I'd sure appreceiate her getting them back. Or at least my wallet would, anyways. lol lol

There is always the possibility that the person who had them did not actually like them and used this opportunity to "misplace" them. They can now live happily every after because she doesn't need to come clean now that she really didn't like them. Oh sorry Dear but I can't remember what I did with them. Some poor cleaning lady is going to get accused of stealing them and lose her job. Thats the only downside I see with keeping them. ;)

Nice find! If the owner didn't go back to that spot after a week I'd safely assume they're yours.

I'm shocked and dismayed that the OP isn't returning these sentimental valuables to Tiffany. It's an embaressment to GSUS and a blatant display of argyrophilia pathologica! Gosh, the OP probably removed the tags from his mattresses.;D

Read the OP, I said I'd be checking the ads for a little while to see if anyone is looking for them. So far, no go.

I think you've tried long enough, they should be yours.
Did you weigh them?

You found them!. I thought it was lost forever. I went to watch some fireworks and then I must of dropped them somehow. Please kindly return to address PMed to you. Thanks!

What happened to all those smilies we used to have. Can't we get a dancing banana or something?

Madfranks, don't listen to platinumdude. It's a scam...besides, I wasn't going to mention this, but I lost a similar necklace in a boating accident a couple of weeks ago. You might be wondering how it ended up 1000 miles from the ocean, I'm tellin' ya, it's the tides, they either work for or against you.

If you'd like to return it to the rightful owner (me), I promise to be a better boater and avoid accidents in the future. ;D

Hey my friend, MadFranks, will you tell us what kind of detector you use, or at least what detector you would buy if you didn't already have one?

Thanks!
