Two policemen are recovering after they were shot by fellow officers as they tried to arrest a man on child pornography charges outside a crowded move theatre.
The incident happened as undercover officers tried to apprehend the unarmed man in the parking lot as he left a screening of Harry Potter in Plainville, Connecticut.
The officers opened fire after Eric Gothberg, 45, suddenly reached for his waistband after resisting arrest.
One policeman arriving as back-up was hit by a bullet in his arm. Another was injured by shards of glass.
Both officers were taken to St Francis Hospital in Hartford where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Gothberg, who was not armed, was shot in the foot and was also taken to hospital.
Police went to the AMC Loews Theatre after they learnt that Gothberg could be at a screening there.
He was wanted on charges of third-degree possession of child pornography.
At just after 2am yesterday he came out of the theatre as people left a showing of the latest Harry Potter film.
Gothberg is being held on a $500,000 bond. It is not known whether he will face additional charges.

Child Porn is some of the biggest BS out there. Well let me clarify, it's loathsome and disgusting. But the creators of this sick shit are never gone after, only the perverted fuck who watches it.
And I think we know who creates it, so that's the answer right there.

The monkey patrol is reserved for the small stuff, These guys are used for the bigger crimes.

Sounds like an ugly scene. The suspect shot in the foot while another officer was shot. I'd say those cops did one of two things wrong. 1) Open fire while hands on with the suspect. Great way to lose control of the situation, with a firearm unhostered. 2) All around trigger happy bad shots. Actually it could be a combo of both.
Either way, these officers either need more training, or should stick to using batons or pepper spray.
There is a lesson here, never reach for your wasteband when dealing with police. Especially if you choose to resist arrest.

Ya, resisted. I don't give much credence to the official story. Way to much stuff is obfuscated on either the media or official's end.
Saying he resisted arrest already gives the impression that the shooting was completely unfortunate. And we are talking about a pederass, so it's ok anyway.
Thinking a little more about it. The whole thing was meant to be a grandstand. Why not just take some vid and bust the dude at his house. This thing has psyop written all over it.

They probably only had a warrant that allowed them to apprehend the suspect in public. Not a search warrant..yet, if it was concerning child pornography, why didn't they have a search warrant? They could have then invaded the home, searched the computer, etc.
This whole situation just reeks of cover-up, mis information.
I think you are right, Osoab. The cops fucked up, said the suspect was resisting to make it seem like an unfortunate accident. Too much stupidity going on to think otherwise.

Why would they pick a theater parking lot as the place to make an arrest? Why not catch him going into or out of his residence? It said in the article that people were getting out of a movie so there would be lots of people around. In fact with the level of incompetence displayed I am surprised nobody else was hit or property destroyed.

There was another incident a couple hours north of Toronto where one cop shot another as well, but they also killed a guy.
They're retarded.

Perhaps, but never under-estimate them anyway. You're not dealing with a person you're dealing with a system that self-repairs. Individuals function like molecules in a larger complex, and it includes various sub-groups that attract and repel. But the symmetry itself is quite deadly.

Agree with most of your post except the part about resisting arrest. I've seen so many videos of a facedown, motionless "criminal" with a knee on his neck while the cops repeatedly yell "stop resisting," that I just don't put much stock in the charge anymore.
